Danny Battochio is 37 years old and last played in 2017-18 (one game, same as 2016-17).
Likely their EBUG this season.

Whole North America career in Rapid City, consistently a top 5-10 goalie in the CHL/ECHL for his entire career. Went to Kazakhstan for a year, was a top ten goalie in their league. Then came back to Rapid City, rounded out his starter career with two good seasons, and has served as their EBUG and goaltending coach ever since.
The 2017-18 game was the same game they retired his number.

The Rush start their regular season this Thursday and Friday with a pair of games against the Iowa Heartlanders.
No word if any more Wranglers being sent down at this point, namely Kerins and Nikolaev, neither of whom have seen any AHL action as of yet.

I hope I'm wrong, but Kerins seems like the kind of player who won't be able to elevate his game when he's playing against stronger competition.

4-2 Rapid City over Iowa in their season opener. Radomsky in net.
Not much in the way of prospects this year -- no ELCs or Flames draft picks. A bunch of guys on Wranglers contracts is about it.

Bit of penalty trouble, 5 penalties to Iowa's 1. 0.944 SV% for Radomsky. But to be fair, Iowa is a recent expansion team that still sucks.

The Rush had their home opener tonight, hosting the Kansas City Mavericks. The first of five meetings in a row between these two teams from now through November 4th.
3-2 regulation loss, game winner on a late penalty (that the guy on the radio really didn't agree with). 3 unanswered goals against.
The penalties were costly tonight.
1/2 on the PP for RC
2/3 on the PP for KC
The name of the game today was being outshot badly. 50-31, including 20 shots against in the second period.
Murphy in net, absolute rock, but couldn't save the game. 47/50 and a .940 SV%
Bleackley (PP: Aleardi, Soper) and Bennett (ES: Jeri-Leon, Bleackley) are your goal scorers.
The only skater on a Wranglers contract, Duarte, was even, zero shots, 2 penalty minutes.
Next game: Hosting KC again tomorrow night.
Record: 2-1-0

The Rush lead twice tonight, 1-0 early, and 3-2 in the late second/early third.
Radomsky in net, stops 42/46 for a .913 SV%
Robertson (Aleardi, Soper), Bennett (Jeri-Leon, Martin), Yamamoto (Nelson) are your goal scorers.
Wranglers contract Duarte is +1, 3 shots
RC goes 0/1 on the PP
KC goes 1/2
Record: 2-1-1

Game 4 of 5 against KC, really gotta be getting tired of it by now
3-0 shutout loss.
We finally outshot KC (not that it matters) 28-20 for the Rush. (including a 15-3 second period).
The struggle in this game was starting and finishing periods: scored on very late in first, late in the second, and early in the third.
Significant special teams opportunities at both ends, RC failed to capitalize:
RC goes 0/5
KC goes 1/5
Your goal scorers are: Nobody
Rough night for Radomsky: saves 17/20 for an .850 SV%
Wranglers contracts: Duarte even with 2 SOG
Record: 2-3-1
Next: At KC again tomorrow.

Game 5 of 5 against KC, good news today!
Rush win 8-4! Seven total goals in the third period, including the empty netter.
Shots were 23-22 in favour of Kansas City.
The goaltending on both sides certainly left a bit to be desired:
RC: Murphy saves 19/23 for a .826 SV%
KC: LaFontaine saves 12/19 for a .632 SV%, Kelley in relief saves 2/2
RC went 0/2 on the PP
KC goes 0/3 on the PP
Your goal scorers are: Nelson, Yamamoto (Nelson), Fergus (Aleardi), Bennett, Gravelle (Yamamoto, Hoffman), Robertson (Fergus), Jeri-Leon (Gravelle, Robertson), Nelson (Gravelle)
3 point nights for Nelson and Gravelle
Wranglers contracts: Duarte started the game, but is all zeros on the scoresheet, didn't hear if he left the game or not.
Record: 3-3-1
Next: Third game in 3 days tomorrow at Tulsa

Hoffman with a fight, two minors, and a penalty shot called against.
RC goes 0/1 on the PP
Tulsa goes 0/3 on the PP but scores on a penalty shot in the third.
Your goal scorers are: Duarte (Robertson, Soper), Colella (Fergus), Bennett (Bleackley, Jeri-Leon), Bennett (Yamamoto)
