According to the snow pillow data, this year is above average to well above average at all measurement sites in the Bow River basin.
You can see daily updates of the actual snow pillows at this site:

It's been a good year to ski or snowboard!

Time to start preparing for another flood season.
Floodtron is at 3 right now for me.

3 cm of rain in the 14 day forecast for Canmore, probably a fairly moderate risk right now. But the thaw does have the rivers and creeks pretty high so starting to see rain in the forecast could make it scary fast.

Advisories to stay off the Bow due to higher than average flow rates, however Ghost reservoir being kept at it's flood season level. Snowfall warnings just to the west in the mountains.

Pretty crazy to think that it was 5 years ago today that the floods started in southern Alberta. It doesn't feel like it was that long ago. I'll never forget sitting in my office in Livingston Place and watching the Bow rise throughout the day, and then getting an email at 2:00 telling everyone to immediately leave the building & get home. Taking the train over the Elbow on the way south, I remember looking at the river in disbelief at how high it already was.
I watched a show on Discovery the other night and it brought a lot of memories back. I don't think I can embed this one, but it's a pretty decent watch, although some of the cell phone footage is pretty grainy.

Yeah, I remember the water was already pooling pretty badly on Memorial near Sunnyside on our way to a soccer wrap up party in Hillhurst. Everybody was on edge, and then it was announced sometime during the event for everybody to leave and go home. It was later though - think it was about 5 or 6PM when things started getting official; school cancelled, work cancelled, stay off the roads, etc.

Pretty disappointing if you ask me, to see the basically absolute lack of any measures taken to prevent or minimize future floods. It's been five years and there is essentially nothing to show for it. I expect better of our government but have been let down - again.

Strong memories about this flood.
It was a year after my father passed away which added to the stress of the situation. He was the one who was most level headed during stressful situations and without him being there. Every year its such a stressful time in Sunnyside. I think everyone is on edge when a large storm system rolls through.

Just managing the reservoir upstream properly is the single biggest impact on Bow River flooding, and that seems to be handled much better now.
Infrastructure projects take time, but right now there's an upgrading pumping station being built just down the street from me, which here in Sunnyside addresses one of the biggest causes of flooding in 2013 (storm sewer being unable to drain), plus a second pumping station being built a few blocks away later this year.
I'm curious to hear what neighbourhood you're in, and what projects would make the biggest difference for flood mitigation and what the current status of those projects is.

Yep.
That's right next to my apartment right now haha. The constant thumping at 7AM on the weekends is well worth the slight annoyance right now.

Maybe not quite in the vein you're getting at but I live in Braeside. Usually there is an issue with flooding of the intersection of Southland and Braeside Dr after most heavy rainfalls. It must be more than just that as they are building a massive dry pond in the school fields beside the intersection. They've been at it since very early spring and supposed to be done by fall.

Nothing to show for it?
I guess, unless you count this laundry list of projects that are underway/near completion.
http://www.calgary.ca/UEP/Water/Page...-Projects.aspx
What exactly are you expecting to see?
Just because there aren't giant walls around the river everywhere doesn't mean a lot of work hasn't been done to mitigate future floods.
And that list doesn't include things like working with Transalta to better manage the flow in the bow from the Ghost reservoir.
