Definitely my mom's home made chicken soup or her home made beef barley. In the winter they just stuck to your bones and radiated heat for hours.
I used to make a mean spicy Clam Chowder
I've gotten hooked on the soups at Safeways. Especially the Baked Potato and the Chicken Enchilada.

One of my favourites that I had in Peru. It was creamy potato with quinoa and crispy alpaca and cheese.
I can kind of replicate it here by using Johnny's Creamy potato( http://w-s-express.ca/index.php?l=product_detail&p=5747 ) with bacon and grated cheese on top. I add small diced potato bits, quinoa, carrots and broccoli.
But basically a soup with bacon and cheese is going to be a winner.

Khao Soi
Noodles in the broth, crispy fried noodles on top, delicious broth, some chicken in there ... oh man.
Jackie's Thai in Eau Claire does a pretty good version, different noodles and no fried noodles though, but broth wise it's great.

The Safeway soups aren't half bad, I like the Cajun Style Jambalaya and the mushroom one.
Co-op carries soups from Simple Simon, I think I tried one once and it wasn't bad either.

The Jambalaya is ok, I fire a ton of hot sauce into it.
The Chili was surprisingly good as was the cheese and broc.

totally depends on the situation:
When ill, basic homemade cream of tomato soup with lots of pepper.
When the weather outside is cold/wet, seafood chowder.

Homemade potato leak soup on a cold day is great.
Back when Antonio's Garlic Clove was open, their cream of roasted garlic soup was heaven.

Growing up my use to make this......I sat for 3-4 hours at the table defiantly refusing to eat it.
Awful stuff, every split pea and ham recipe should be put on a rocket and launched into the sun.

My favourite soup is roasted mushroom & garlic soup with melted brie cheese instead of cream. YES.
