The recapture is a joke, especially with how many teams have gotten away with it the last few years
But those contracts should have been grandfathered in when the new CBA was signed
I have said it for every team not just the Canucks, like others have said it wont really hurt the canucks since they have some cap coming of next year and the year after, and Petey is 2 years away from being paid
But it's just a Mickey mouse league

$3.03 million penalty to the Canucks for signing him to a 12-year contract when no one expected him to play until age 41 at the time?
That's no penalty at all. Barely a slap on the wrist.
Nothing against the player though.

Hossa is still technically an "active" player, but yeah, those are the only guys who played in the NHL last season who also played in the 90s.

Somewhat hilariously, if the penalty prevents Vancouver from signing Myers, Luongo probably did them a favour.

You could have just gone to the capfriendly website and pulled up this: https://www.capfriendly.com/buyout-c...roberto-luongo
You could have referenced this article from 2016: https://theprovince.com/sports/hocke...-cap-nightmare
You could have referenced a tweet like this one: https://twitter.com/risingaction/sta...48325688713216
Those are all publicly available pieces of information. Instead you posted that you thought it might be something, and you were "working to confirm". With a daily post count that is only dwarfed by Locke and crunch, you can afford to take a few posts off, before just jotting down the first thought that comes into your head.

Well, it's good to know that I'm being held accountable for all of my troublesome, overbearing activity. I wouldn't want to corrupt the site with all of my uselessness and poor phrasing!
It's funny how one little post resulted in eight more that solely existed to ridicule it. For someone intent upon reducing posting, apparently, you might be a little more concerned about that. Or does that conflict with your narrative?
Buzz off. I don't care.

Is this the Scorpion pity party thread or the Luongo retirement thread? I am not sure anymore.

On another note, what does everyone think about the possibility of Hall of Fame for Luongo? I'm not sure where I stand at the moment, but I think he deserves some consideration despite not winning a cup.

I vote no because it will make Canuck fans cranky and sad and their tears are delicious. Congrats on a long career and a funny twitter account though. Plus side he’s already in Florida so retiring is a quick (very slow and poorly driven) trip down the road.

Without looking too carefully at his stats, I would have assumed he'd be a shoe-in. I've always thought of him as one of the best goalies of his generation.

Ignore them. They're being mean jerks.
Me, I'm still being a jerk by responding to as many of your posts as I can but I'm doing it out of fun because you get spammed by Tapatalk.

Also, I don't believe there will be any actual money for the recapture penalty. They're recapturing the money that was already spent but not accounted for under the cap.

He's third all time in wins, he has to be strongly considered no? One of the best goalies ever IMO.
It's more impressive when you consider he won a lot of those games on some pretty poor teams.

I had no idea Luongo never won the Vezina... three-time finalist but never any wins. Crazy.

Maybe, but there's no way he should get in before Vernon or Barrasso.
Unfortunately, he probably gets special consideration because he'd be the first real Panther to go in. There are players and builders associated with the Panthers in the HHOF, but none of them are people you automatically associate with the Panthers.
