Not sure what I'd prefer -- Smith starting and playing well and seeing CP explode, or Rittich starting and playing well and seeing Eric Francis eat crow.
GFG!

Get Smith some run support and this one should be a laugher.

Far too often is a little much IMO, but your premise is bang on. The Flames win when their big 4 forwards are at their best.

Wait are people here seriously concerned about beating Vancouver?
Put Smith in. He should be playing the garbage teams.

Anyone know how to get rid of those ads for an iPhone? I’ve tried going to “request desktop site but that doesn’t work. I basically have to refresh the page 4-5 times to get it to load without an ad

In bottom left corner change style to 2a. Be warned that embedded tweets won’t work though. It will disable the ads.

I haven't been a fan of the way this team has played defensively since Christmas. I would like to see them get back to playing solid team defense as we get closer to the playoffs. I think the Canucks are a team they should beat but if the Flames are sloppy defensively they are a team that can take advantage and make things difficult.

Not sure about that logic. Wouldn't a garbage team tend to lob more muffins at the net, which seems to be Smith's kryptonite?

Run support? You mean 4+ goals?
You know its also nice when the goaltender can win a 2-1 game.

The only good thing about that would be when Pettersson puts up a six point night I have him in my pool. Seriously, Smith will get torched against the Canucks.

Thanks to Rittich and our depth up front. Let's not pretend Mike Smith has had anything to do with where we are. If Rittich has not turned out the way he did this team is a bubble playoff team with Smith carrying the load.

I am not “pretending” anything. But I do believe that game management has made a significant contribution to the Flames success this season. The coaches have been smart to not play Rittich too much.

Wait. Would 2a be the reason embedded tweets have never ever worked for me here?

You believe it, but you are guessing as much as anyone else.
Many see no reason why a few extra games would make Rittich worse. Makes no sense.

Looks like Rittich is starting, so the first 45 posts or so in this thread can be deleted.

I know you are desperate to propagate this narrative about starting Rittich in every game, but until an NHL team actually manages to win a championship in today’s game on the back of of a +70-game goalie it’s just a lot of bluster.
