Hmmm even more smoke to a possible Markstrom + Tanev at 50 percent? NJ needs goaltending more than any team IMO. Thanks for the update Rasta!!

NJ has many intriguing assets

I covet picks more than anything, and IMO Mercer isn't even a remote possibility, Holtz looks like a winger.

I keep coming back to Seamus Casey though. Lacks size, but is a right shot D man putting up big offensive numbers in college, former 2nd rounder. Between him, Poirier and Brusky you'd think we could hit on at least one of them becoming a top pairing offensive D man in the next few years.

A little scared that any NJ trade has to happen right away or may not happen at all though with Tanev.

They are getting close to being out of the playoff picture and doubt they would risk a high pick unless they win the next couple.

I could still see markstrom in the summer for them.

Mercer isn't as untouchable as people think.

I wonder how much, if any, Hanifin's decision impacts the offer that Conroy accepts for Tanev.

Can anyone remember a trade where Treliving game up a first round pick for a rental? He traded lots of first round picks but I think they always had at least 1 full year left on their deal when he did that. A first round pick is definitely what Conroy should be asking for from the leafs but I don’t think Treliving will pay it. Their loss.

What’s intriguing about a possible Tanev + Markstrom package to New Jersey is that having Markstrom’s buddy Tanev along for the ride might help give him incentive to waive his NMC. Could be a really big deal if something like that happens.

Absolutely zero chance LA moves Clarke. They wouldn’t move Clarke for Hanifin sign and trade without a significant added from the Flames. Clarke is an absolute guaranteed first pair defenseman.

You're thinking of Brandt. The L.A defensemen and Brother of Center Graham from New Jersey. But cool.

I highly doubt New Jersey is going to give us Mercer for Tanev. That would be one of the biggest fleecing's in a long time.

What makes you say that? Heard something or just your opinion.

Mercer for a retained Marky on the other hand....

Or, Tanev and the Vancouver ver 1st for Mercer.

Maybe there's multiple ways to skin a cat with NJ.

What happened to the all star break deadline on Hanifin? He needs four more days to decide to be in Calgary?

Trade please.

Yeah there would certainly be more to it than just Tanev if Mercer was involved

Markstrom with some retention, + few smaller parts on both ends.... interesting to think about and sure would be awesome. Not enough newfies on this team

That was the deadline for him to tell the team, not the deadline for the team to act on it. Whether they trade him or sign him, it takes time to make the deal.
