I know others may be more deserving right now but I think Poirier is a perfect replacement stylistically for Frolik.
Speedy, good on PK, little scoring touch. I realize he isn't ready now but I'm hoping Poirier can one day fill that role.
Sucks for Frolik that is a nasty injury. He never saw the shot coming. Just brutal. Hope he heals fast.

Now is the time to see Morgan Klimchuk in Calgary. It's been FOUR years since he was drafted... in the first round.

Too bad for Frolik. Solid player that one never seems to have issue with the effort.
But, opportunity now with the log jam somewhat broken.
As surreal as it still is to see Jagr on the Flames, this is his chance to pick it up a bit and get with linemates more suited to his game. With 3 shots on net in the second period last night (credit to Brouwer and Stajan for really trying to get him the puck out there) he's starting to get back into it, and playing with the right players will further that, of course. You know its killing him as a competitor to be trying to work through an injury and not getting chances, and, what he said when he signed here, to be able to contribute.
This is his chance...he looked good before his initial injury in the previous few games, with Bennett and Janko, and you could see the confidence start to emerge as his legs got under him....hopefully that comes back with the confidence of getting those good chances last night, and he turns into the contributor he is so hard on himself in being, and, frankly, a spark that the team needs. PP time IMO as well...he was on there in his first comeback from injury and that zone possession game is where he still shines.
Also hope his groin holds.

That’s a big loss. I’m hoping to see Mangiapane or Klimchuk recalled.

Frolik’s loss is a big one. 57.5% possession rate 2nd on the team with 4th lowest offensive zone start ratio at 43.6%. #Flames

Big loss for the Flames. Frolik has been an excellent soldier in the top six with no real replacement waiting in the wings.

Pretty big loss. The guy has 2 speeds. On the bench and full out.
However, this team has gone a bit stale, I welcome some lineup changes that are forcing players out of their comfort zones.

Teams can only call up junior players in emergency situations.

You have to think one of the Heat wingers return on a call-up with the Flames.

With Frolik likely going to the IR, do the flames have the ability to make a call up without waiving anyone?

I have such little confidence in how the coaching staff deals with Brouwer that I think Brouwer will get the spot on the wing.

This really sucks. They should just call someone up as we already know Lazar is a bust.

Holy that's awful news. Frolik is easily one of my favorite Flames UFA signings ever, just so dang reliable.

Figured it was more than a couple teeth just by the way he reacted and the fact that Burns shot is a heavy one.
Hopefully we see him in 3 weeks or so.

No, we really don’t.
What is it with this point of view? As if we haven’t just seen Bennett turn his game around once he got to start playing with actual NHL quality players.
Lazar needs development time, and needs it within the correct circumstances. You simply cannot ask young, developing players to produce or become effective while you weigh them down with awful players (Brouwer + Stajan).

Too bad. An unspectacular player that can play up and down the lineup. The kind of player you find on championship teams.
