I'm all for an Alonso return, I love the old guard and hope we keep Raikkonen forever

If there’s one thing an underperforming Renault need, who are under immense pressure and have failed time and again to progress the way they want, it’s a driver known for being a prima-donna and who will gladly air all his complaints publicly, including but not limited to retiring the car because his GAF level has reached zero.

So make that three of us in favour of an Alonso return.

Alonso may have his faults but he does make his car faster. Provided the engine isn’t a GP2 engine of course

Totally. Canada would be coming soon...

I did watch the virtual GP, they threw rain in for qualy, which was fun. But the race kinda became bumper cars with no damage turned on, the risky walls of Monaco were no longer risky.

Good news is it sounds like things are proceeding for the British GP with no spectators. I'm not really sure where they are with a season start, if that will be the first one?

Made it back to Germany just in time for the closed races to begin. haha. On the plus side there is a diecast store here in Aachen with some really beauty F1 stuff. And I dont have to get up at 4 am to watch races. Good luck to all!

Looking forward to how Mercs weird steer thingy will help. Remember that? Seems like a decade ago.

Interestingly, the second of the back to back races will have a different qualy format. They are doing a 30 minute qualy race with a reverse grid based on current WDC points. So that'll be interesting to see if the leaders can make up 20 positions in 30 minutes, or how wide the "back field" can make their cars.

I'm not really sure how they will rank the back field for the first race, as their will be only one race before that, so 10 drivers will have zero points. I assume they'll use their finish order from the first race. And I wonder if that will lead to some sandbagging from the drivers out of the points. Better to be last, and start first at the qualy race...

I can’t think of a better time to try wacky things. And they almost have to with b2b races at the same track. No ones gonna wanna watch Lewis win by 30s two weekends in a row on the same track.

Nope. I like the engineering as much as the driving.

Awww yaaaaaaaa...damn I'm getting excited for F1 to return. July 5 is the first race in Austria. Brings back some great memories from last year.

I think everyone knows the rules...but if not I can repost them shortly.

Also, remember that LeMansE is this weekend.

Big Pic of RBR at Spielberg...just before "The Pass"
Spoiler!

That would have to be Canadian thanksgiving, right? Even Canadian Thanksgiving could be a little spotty weather wise.

Ha, yes, Canadian thanksgiving. But you’re right, weather could be warm and sunny, rainy, cold or even a bit of snow.

That being said, when I was there in 2016 it was cold. Like 12C and windy. So it may not be far off some of the cooler June races.
