Default Question... Need Your Oppinion!

As you may know I work with Discover Real Estate. It is the second largest single brokerage in the city. I started out my career with Maxwell as I wanted some brand recognition.
It didnt take long to realize that you sell yourself. Most people are going to choose a agent they like personally than call up a big name company like remax and ask for any agent.

With discover my monthly fees are very low and I work from home. If I moved to a remax brokerage my fees would increase almost 6x per month.

SOOO the question is... How important is the logo beside the agent?

I understand opinions will vary but I am interested in your thoughts.

Most people I know chose their realtor based on a referral but I could see where new home buyers might be swayed by brand recognition.

From what I've seen from Discover Real Estate, you seem to have more freedom with your marketing and branding than agents from some of the larger firms. I would suggest taking advantage of that.

It's a cool start to do what you've done on CP but I would extend that into a bit of social media and improved communications tools. I don't want to have to sign up on your website to see those selling guides. I know the contact information is important but I think a level of trust could be created by giving that information away to your visitors. You would present yourselves as knowledgable and forthcoming with that knowledge. It will also help with your search rankings.

Also, if I can be honest, I think you need a new signature on here. That one doesn't really reflect the site people are going to when they click on it. Here's a quick one I made that I think matches your website a little better. Let me know if you want any changes.

That sig is awesome. I have no problem admiting to my lack of artistic skills!
If you want to share I can give you credit uinderneath?
A sig like that would take me roughly a month to create lol.

As for our site, its managed by Real Page Maker and its a fairly generic template. However I do see what you are saying!

It's yours. Don't worry about credit either, that just muddles the message.

It might make a difference to some people, the type who are looking to call someone from a bus bench ad. Realistically though, most people select a Realtor from a referral. The question to ask is, if Re-Max is an extra XXX$ per month, how many extra sales per year will you have to make just to break even on those fees. If the answer is more than one, I wouldn't spend the money if it was me. Especially since you seem to have a pretty focused marketing strategy going here.

You're better off connecting deeply with a few people who will then actually use you as a Realtor, than buying every transit ad in the city and being everybody's third choice.

Opinion from another Discover agent: I think at some point it does start to matter. It doesn't change you and your services, but some people still think Remax etc. makes a difference.

Depending how much volume you guys are doing, I would eventually switch when the additional costs weren't a big deal (because you're making enough that it doesn't matter much).

If I did a lot more re-sale than I do development, I'd likely switch. I sure do love our fees though!

I agree with Winsor.. The way we market ourselves isn't necessarily sensitive to the label we have behind us as we are selling ourselves rather than the brokerage. Once the volume of home being sold is high enough than it makes sense to transfer as it simply boosts up the level of write offs for tax season! Consumer confidence may be higher if they see the big name brokerage but than again that has nothing to do with our referral base and relates only to the "googling" or "bus bench shopping" type customer.

As a partially educated customer.......my order of criteria would be:

1. Do I trust you? (Are you clearly competent, willing to work)
2. Are your fees fair? (Do we both "Win" in the transaction)
3. Do I like you? (Are you a Flames fan)

Your ONLY real challenge would be meeting me so that I could assess 1, 2 and 3. So far, you're doing a strong job of it.
