Default Koodo mobile

Thinking of switching to Koodo once my Bell contract is done. I can get the same plan as what I have now for $15 less per month. I know they're owned by Telus and use the same network, but for anyone who's on them do you have any complaints with the service? Do Koodo members have the same access to the LTE network that Telus ones do?

Would they be able to port my number over from Bell?

Koodo has a proxy which generally reduces speeds, but it can be bypassed by clearing the proxy IP address and port from the APN settings. After that you should see 20+ Mbit/s downloads on LTE during the day.

Currently, Koodo has a promotional Manitoba/Saskatchewan plan that's relatively easy to obtain if you're not from those two provinces. It's $55 (with 10% discount for BYOD) for unlimited Canadian talk, text and 5GB of data. See this Redflagdeals thread for more info:

Porting is pretty seamless between the Big 3, you can do it using Koodo's online self serve site and it should only take a few minutes to go through.

That's a pretty massive thread to wade through, how exactly do you get that plan? Walk into a retail store and hope that you get a rep that doesn't care about the region clause?

That's the most common way (but you can go to any place that sells Koodo's services, including Superstore, Futureshop, etc), there's a poster on another thread that mentioned they were successful in getting it by buying a new Koodo SIM and getting a Manitoba number on it:

http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showpos...5&postcount=77

I was able to get it online, the SIM that I received was unactivated and when I called to activate it, was able to get a Manitoba number from the CSR and then select the $55 plan.
