Default Roger Millions retires from broadcasting

Say what you want about Roger, but he was a big part of Flames broadcasts for a long time and did put effort into covering the Flames.

I wouldn't have called myself a big fan of Roger, but I appreciate his effort to interact with fans on here and on social media, even if we often didn't see eye to eye. I also remember he gathered many of us at Shanks a few years back to create a fans' opinion segment for Sportsnet.

Good luck, Roger.

Not a surprise he's moving into politics, his Twitter seemed equal parts politics as it was sports these past few years.

On a personal note I recall Roger getting his start here in Saskatoon on CFQC TV. I don't see eye to eye with him on most things, but as sports reporter and TV personality he was relatable, reliable and enjoyable to listen to. All the best.

Loved all of my interactions with Roger, both online and in person.

A super memorable moment for my wife and I was last year when we were in D.C. for a Flames game and my wife wanted to get a quick touch up at a hair salon. So there I am sitting in the "husband" chairs in the waiting area, and she's pops out to see me after she's done, and points at the street outside the main window and yells "Roger!". He must have heard it and looks over inside and my wife runs over and grabs my Flames hoodie and points at the logo like a crazy person.

So he motions over to come out, my wife pays and we head outside to chat with him. He saw that we were Flames fans and recognized him, so he wanted to take a moment to chat. We told him we were from Calgary and visiting D.C. for the Flames game, and that we'd be going to other cities on the road trip too. He was super nice and very appreciative of us recognizing him and wanting to say hi.

All the best Roger in your next career! If I have an opportunity to support you in the future I definitely will!

LOL - I'm blocked on Twitter by him for reasons totally unknown to me (I've never said anything bad to him or about him?) so...whatever.

OTOH, I can understand the desire to cut the travel and be at home more.

I try not to be overly critical of the people involved in local broadcasting (unless they purposely turn the position into a clown act like the guy in Edmonton) because it's a lot of work for not the greatest pay for a lot of them but for the record I though he was better than Loubardias or Kerr at PBP. Good luck to Roger in his new endeavor.

I'll never forget talking to him before a game in San Jose,c and when I told him I read CP he immediately became concerned I was there to harass him. Some people need to remember these are still people, and this is still a game.

I always liked Roger.

Met him once in Montreal and he took the time to talk a little hockey with me, he even mentioned CP.

I wish him well in his future, no matter what he chooses to do. All the best!

In the handful of times I've spoken with Roger, he was nothing but a good man doing his job.

I wish him luck in his new endeavour.

I've always like Roger and the work he did with SN. I thought he did a great job as the PBP guy years back. I found it sad that CP kind of forced him out the door here. I never understood the backlash he got by simply being a member here and having some inside info he shared. I always appreciated that.

Best of luck in the future Roger! I always found you to be a bright spot among the SN team.
