Default Calgarypuck Prospect Ranking 2017 - Round 8

It's baaaaaaaaaaaaaack

Calgarypuck's 5th Annual Prospect Ranking Poll Series

Here are the last 5 years for a quick glance ...
Prospect Rankings
2013 - http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthr...ospect+Ranking
2014 - http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthr...highlight=poll

2016 - http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=156151

As per usual the vote is up to you. Some see it as most likely to play, some see it as highest ceiling, others see it as a mix of both.

Happy voting!

Who will join Sean Monahan, Johnny Gaudreau, Sam Bennett and Matthew Tkachuk as the top prospect. Previous four have gone straight to the show.

Pity the Foo who don't know who to pick next!

Was close between Foo and Phillips. Foo is the more sure thing so I picked him but Phillips has the skillset to be a game breaker.

To me this is the start of the next traunch ... big 7 have been graduated.

Now there are some iffs and maybes, many with a lot of upside or a good chance to succeed, but less chance at upper roster landings.

Went with Dube ... love his trajectory right now. Great WJC, solid finish to his season, went to Stockton, and looked great at development camp

Had to go with Dube. He's proven more at his age than what Foo proved.

I'm going off the path a bit and picking Hathaway. I think this is a guy who is going to be good at what he's supposed to be - a hard nose, gritty checking line forward who has proven to be effective at the NHL level. Sometimes the best players don't need to be offensive dynamos with sick hands and elite level talent.

Dillon Dube. Exceeded expectations IMO.

It's still early, but I think they really killed the 2016 draft. Tkachuk, Dube, Parsons, Fox ... awesome.

This is where it gets tough - voted Dube but kind of think I should have voted Rittich here.

Really hard to separate Dube, Phillips, Mangiapane, Foo, Klimchuk, & Poirier at this point since I view them as similar prospects.

the crazy thing is that Mangiapane was 9th last year, then scored 20 in his rookie AHL season and is still probably going to miss top 10 (if Dube, Foo and Rittich are 8, 9 and 10). Think the prospect pool is still deeper than some people think.

I'm voting with a hope that Poirier is on his way back to his old self...because if he is, he's at the top of this remaining list.

Between Foo and Dube for me and really a saw off.
Went with Foo because I had to pick one. Dube will be next.

Rittich, he's the guy banging on the Door, it wouldn't surprise me if no one in the remaining forward group makes it to the big show, everyone left is either carrying major flaws or don't stand out enough. They all strike me as being of Nemisz or Boyd caliber prospects, they could make the leap, but probably won't and the ones that do will struggle to find consistency.

Would have went with Mangiapane, but since Dube is closer to Foo in the voting I decided to go with Dube. I think both Dube and Mangiapane are both more deserving than Foo at this point.

Not sure what Mangiapane has to do to get more respect around here... Maybe put some lifts in his skates? Back to back 100 point seasons in junior and 20 goals in 66 games as a 20 year old AHL rookie...

Eatbread for me. Lots of skill, a very solid AHL rookie season and he seems to be filling out a bit as well.

Originally undrafted (drafted 6th round in his Draft+1 season), smaller guy, never led his team in points in OHL, came out like gangbusters in the AHL, but slowed down throughout the year. I think he needs a ppg season in the AHL this year to stay on anyone's radar.
