Still radio surfing, reading reviews and getting recommendations for the most part. I'm picky and try to keep new music to trickle and like to take deep dives on the stuff that really catches me.
Music festivals are a probably the best way, as you get the most opportunities to see a variety of artists in their live element, but it's expensive.

I broke down and paid for a spotify membership. The free version is still pretty good, but the paid service is incredible, you can download songs onto your phone so that you don't need to be connected to listen to them.
If you still have access to a university email, and are not a student you can get half off your monthly fees for the "I was a student once discount" same goes for any employee of a university.

I still buy physical copies of vinyl and CDs as well. I buy mostly stuff online straight from the label or musician, or from retailers like Amazon, eBay, CDJapan, etc. I still love to hunt for used records and CDs when I travel, although it's getting difficult to do that with kids in tow as they get bored pretty quickly. Whenever I am in a new city, I almost always search for record stores before anything else (restaurants, attractions, etc).

Yup, I do the same thing. Amoeba Music in LA is my personal Disneyland. I probably drop at least $150 every time I'm in there.

I'm an Apple music guy myself. The streaming services are all awesome, but there's always going to be those select few albums (or bootleg live performances) that they can't have. I like Apple because you can upload anything that's not in apple music and it appears on all your devices, and it lives seamlessly with your other music.

Just got it a few days ago, and it's fantastic. The playlists they suggest are great. I'm discovering all sorts of new music.
I was able to get a bunch of the Insignia google play speaker for about $20 each, and I set them up around the apartment. Pretty great overall sound quality, especially the ones who are set up in stereo.

I have spotify but I'm finding it kind of bad for any non-english tracks. They are really missing a lot of fairly big Bollywood songs.

Yeah I'm the same way. I purchase albums and songs through iTunes as I just like to have my own collection. Maybe it's because when I was young I had a massive inventory of CD's and cassette tapes.

I have a Spotify family account for me, my wife and a few family members
I switched fully over to streaming, I enjoy it. I make all my own playlists, the Spotify ones are usually pretty bad.
My only complaint is the "new release" section on Spotify is no good for keeping up with album releases, so I have to keep track on my own for albums I'm interested in. Not a big deal though, I just keep up with new albums and add what I like to whatever relevant playlists I have created

I go out to see music live. I can't remember the last time I listened to an album or such at home that wasn't something I bought at a show, or wasn't something someone I know personally produced and sent to me.
Streaming is destroying music.

Vancouver's only classical record store calls it quits after 40 years
In a business dominated by Spotify and Amazon, Sikora's Classical Records just can't compete anymore

I don't really listen to music much anymore. But if I do its from a free streaming service. Or I'll download an album from the web gray area.
