Spurs better be careful or they won't even get the finish above Arsenal trophy.

Well it was a win. Nothing much to say as it was boring to watch.

Spud saves the day!

Quote:
There were farcical scenes at Carrow Road when a Norwich City fan and qualified referee had to be pulled from the crowd to stand in as fourth official.

Superfan David 'Spud' Thornhill enjoyed his 15 minutes of fame at the close of Norwich's 1-1 draw with Preston North End - quite literally because the confusion lead to 10 minutes of stoppage time.

It was quite the day for Thornhill, who was also the subject of a set-piece interview in the matchday programme. The trouble began when a linesman pulled up with an injury, and was replaced by the fourth official. However, there was no other EFL official at the stadium to act as his back-up. Referee Tim Robinson took the players from the field and the game briefly looked under threat of abandonment, until Thornhill came to the rescue.

That sucks. Chelsea get the draw on a fluke goal at the end.

True, while a win would have been awesome, its a fair result. Both sides looked fairly even and capable of winning it, but Liverpool were never going to close out a 1-0 lead against Chelsea for that long. Not after the 'Smashup in Sevilla.'

Cant complain too much, a win would have been ideal but a draw isnt a disaster.

Much like last season belonged to Chelsea, this one seems like its already in City's Trophy Case.

Charlie Austin scores a brace and that's probably another loss for Everton. They better find a real new manager soon because under Unsworth they are at least as bad as under Koeman. Also conceded the most goals in the league now (27).

^ Slaven Bilic? I mean they look terrible, bit at the same time a little bit of legitimate organization would go a long way. Or maybe it's Big Sam time to claw them out of relegation...

How must Everton's owners be feeling after spending all that money this summer? Utterly disgraceful that they look this poor.

Did they have a net spend though? I know they brought in a bunch of guys, but they were basically spending the money they received for Lukaku, or so I thought?

Yeah, I don't follow as closely as some of you guys, but I thought it was mostly Value Village spending.

nah they actually had net spending of about €50m. And that doesn't include Schneiderlin, who was signed in January.

EDIT: according to Transfermarkt:

+ Sigurdsson - £44.5m
+ Keane - £25.6m
+ Pickford - £25.6m
+ Klaassen - £24.3m
+ Vlasic - £9.7m
+ Onyekuru - £7.2m
+ Ramirez - £5.4m
+ Rooney - free
+ Martina - free

- Lukaku - £76.2m
- Deulofeu - £10.8m
- Cleverley - £8.4m
- Barry - £1.0m
- McGeady - £260k

Total expenditures - £142.3m
Total income - £96.6m
Total net spend - £45.7m

Plus Schneiderlin (£20.6m) and Lookman (£7.9m) in January, and let's not forget that Rooneys wages are enormous. They've spent ####loads of money since Moshiri took over, and Lukaku going the other way doesn't negate that.

Huddersfield up 1-0 against City. Fully expect City to tear them apart in the second half, but still nice.

Humiliating dive by Fernandinho there.

That's a brutal way to (probably) lose. Fluke goal.

Edit: Although City did sort of complete three hundred more passes in the second half...

Burnley also suffered a terrible way to lose today. A dive leading to a penalty with virtually no time left on the clock.

It's just such a bad collection of buys

Their entire attack last year was built around Lukaku and to a lesser extent Barkley, and Barkley either leaves for free in the summer or cut price in January

None of those players they bought were replacing those goals, Keane and Pickford are probably good long term, but outside of that the only thing the outfield players have in common is zero pace

Sandro, Rooney, and Gylfi all basically play the same position as well

There hasn't been a team spending this since man city first got their oil money

I'm not surprised they can't find a manager, it's not an appealing jobeith that squad, they will obviously have to sell off to buy, and the values will have plummeted

That's a 2 year project to turn them around and get them back tongue top half

No ban for Lukaku for kicking Gaetan Bong (what a name by the way). Kudos to the FA here, they realize with Arsenal and City coming up Lukaku is likely to be missing in those games anyway.

You have to stop posting from your phone or after what I presume was heavy drinking.

But otherwise, absolutely, I completely agree.

Its a lot like West Ham, a lot of square pegs being jammed into round holes.

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that Koeman wanted to play a possession style as opposed to focusing on a single striker.

Everton are keen to re-open talks with Sam Allardyce over the managerial vacancy at Goodison Park, sources have told ESPN FC, due to growing concern within the club's hierarchy over the prospect of a battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

But with Allardyce reluctant to return to management on a six-month contract, Everton are faced with the prospect of having to offer the former England manager a more long-term deal in order to persuade the 63-year-old to end his self-imposed exile from the game in the wake of his resignation at Crystal Palace during the summer.

Okay Sam.....six month contract and all the Pints of Wine you can drink!

Haha it was the phone

Koeman just made a bad call I think leaving, I said when it happened, ride out another year at Southampton and he's probably the favorite for the arsenal job this or next summer

Maybe even barca with his history there
