Borjan is a little older so I bet he'll need a break. Same reason we didn't get guys like Arfield or Atiba for WCQ.

Borjan's club also has Champions League qualifiers in July.

Hilarious that we are in an era where only two players play for FC Unattached, and one of them was the elusive, much sought after Junior Holliet who was looked at to become the crown jewel of our program at one time.

Do we have an idea WHEN they will announce the location of the Ocho matches?

Would really like to start planning as soon as I can.

I know Gold Cup isn't that big of a deal this year, but this is good news...

It's so awesome to have the best player we've ever produced be so committed to the national team. Is there any doubt Davies will go down as the most influential soccer player in our country's history? Just him and David bothering to show up means a ton in influencing dual nationals to commit to Canada and obviously, in inspiring our youth to pick up the sport

You will certainly get some debate putting him over Sinclair.

He's almost definitely the best male soccer player Canada has produced. To me Sinclair is the GOAT and will be for some time.

Akinola has switched to Canada. He's behind David, Larin and Cavallini up top, but good depth after those three. May actually be ahead of Cavallini on form right now. Guessing he'll be announced on Canada's Gold Cup roster later this week....

Here's the squad for the Gold Cup. More of a full strength squad than I was anticipating. Have to think semifinals are the goal given that second place in Group B faces the winner of Group C (Jamaica, Costa Rica or Suriname).

1- GK- Dayne St. Clair | USA / Minnesota United FC
2- FB- Alistair Johnston | USA / Nashville SC
3- F- Tyler Pasher | USA / Houston Dynamo
4- CB- Kamal Miller | CAN / CF Montréal
5- CB- Steven Vitória | POR / Moreirense FC
6- M- Samuel Piette | CAN / CF Montréal
7- M- Stephen Eustáquio | POR / FC Paços de Ferreira
8- M- Liam Fraser | USA / Columbus Crew SC
9- F- Lucas Cavallini | CAN / Vancouver Whitecaps FC
10- F- David Junior Hoilett | Unattached
11- F- Theo Corbeanu | ENG / Wolverhampton Wanderers FC
12- M- Jonathan Osorio | CAN / Toronto FC
12- F- Tajon Buchanan | USA / New England Revolution
13- CB- Scott Kennedy | GER / SSV Jahn Regensburg
14- M- Mark-Anthony Kaye | USA / Los Angeles FC
15- CB- Doneil Henry | KOR / Suwon Samsung Bluewings
16- GK- Maxime Crépeau | CAN / Vancouver Whitecaps FC
17- F- Cyle Larin | TUR / Beşiktaş JK
18- GK- Jayson Leutwiler | ENG / Oldham Athletic AFC
19- FB- Alphonso Davies | GER / FC Bayern München
20- M- Harry Paton | SCO / Ross County FC
22- FB- Richie Laryea | CAN / Toronto FC
23- F- Ayo Akinola | CAN / Toronto FC

Sounds like jebbison was close to switching back to Canada too, but didn't want to miss a key preseason.

Herdman has done a really amazing job recruiting. Mind blowing after so many years of being terrible at it

Honestly a big part of it is Davies.

The appeal of having an actual World Class talent on the team can't be overlooked.

Davies is out for the Gold Cup due to an ankle injury.

Big shot to Canadian hopes, although not shocking.

As long as he's healthy for World Cup qualifying that's what matters.

Without the Confederations Cup now as the carrot for the winners, the Gold Cup is basically glorified friendlies similar to Nations League. It'll be chance to analyze depth for the World Cup qualifiers. And opportunity to try different guys, different formations etc...

Davies needs to get healthy and get on the practice pitch in front of Nagelsmann. Be ready for Bayern and WCQ

1-0 Martinique early in the opening match. Brutal giveaway by Kaye

Larin makes it 1-1 with a nice header

4 1 final. Win for Canada. Win against Haiti on Thursday will push us through regardless of the result against the US

Half the team did pick up yellow cards however (six) which could impact the US game. Yellows are wiped out after prelims though I believe.
