So I never really wanted to keep Marchessault... he's only signed for one year but he's not going to keep producing, IMO. Regardless, I get to clear most of his cap. That with Stempniak's cap will likely allow me to get one good UFA forward.
Obviously, the big win here is getting rid of Martin, and so because of that I'm allowed much more freedom in FA.
Thanks to Moshpit for doing this.

So the Habs get Marchessault for nothing and now has the option if they want to use Martin or buy him out.
Freedom could have come much cheaper Scorp.

Forget what my proposal was, you could have done better. Mosher did very good here.

I'm just happy that the Paul Martin saga has come to a close. I was on the edge of my seat.

Habs were heading into UFA with 28mil in cap space. Last week, we had a deal with the leafs that got vetoed, where we would have taken on cap. Glad to see another deal come along- where we added to the team, by being able to take on bad contracts.
With a nice bit of cap space left, we still will be a player in UFA batch 1.
Thanks Scorp for the negotiations.

....I don't get it
You have enough to ice a roster. You can always upgrade later. Giving a 30 goal scorer away just to have a chance at a UFA is so strange.

So 9.5m in cap space for a 30 goal scoring rfa? Shedding the cap In hopes of signing a 30 goal scoring Ufa?
Really interested in seeing if and how the islanders are able to spend there cap space in Ufa. I'm worried that you are expecting big things and might be disappointed. Time will tell...

Just for a little perspective, here are the Isles' lines as of the moment:
Vanek - Fisher - Vrbata
Grabner - Nielsen - Sheary
Teravainen - Martinook - Rust
Komarov - Ryan - Pyatt
Rielly - Larsson
Hickey - Manson
Miller - Wideman
Anderson
Johnson
Obviously, it's a work in progress. I expect things to change soon. We have 11.5 million to work with and I suspect that we'll make it count.
