Flames unveil new Adidas uniforms

Hate the flags

Hate all the piping

I would have been satisfied if they had dealt with these items.

Flames: "the fans love the current jersey, let's keep it the same"
Adidas: "well market research shows that this generation of fans prefers..."
Flames: "don't change a thing, the fans love our current jersey"
Adidas "Umm... OK.... I guess we can do that, but our current template doesn't allow for piping, that will need to go"
Flames: "I guess we can live with that... Otherwise keep everything the same. The fans love our current jersey."
Adidas "I doubt they do, but ok... How does this look?"
Flames "looks ok, but where are the laces? And what happened to the flags?"
Adidas "we can't really do laces anymore, unless you want us to just switch them on"
Flames "we said don't change anything... The fans love what we currently have"
Adidas: "alright we'll stitch some laces on I guess. As for the flags, we thought that it would be better if..."
Flames: "put the flags back! The fans love the flags!"
Adidas: "how about this?"
Flames: "perfect!"
Adidas: "really?"
Flames: "yeah definitely. The fans love our current look. The fans will love this!"

We're the Flames. I mean any other artwork you add some flames on it and it's great. We have this great theme to work with and this is the best we can come up with?

I mean sure, red and yellow are fire type colors, but when is someone going to come up with something that really jumps out and makes me think they nailed it.

I like the retros, but maybe that's just nostalgia.

Jerseys aren't for sale until September. Still plenty of time to make changes due to massive backlash. Right?

I own pretty much every jersey the Flames have put out there. This will probably be no different. Its a minor upgrade from what they had, and I wore that one as proudly as I could for the last 10 years. I'm disappointed, but it could have been much, much worse.

Looking at you Oilers, Knights, Devils, Rangers...

It's better but such a wasted opportunity. 10 years with a mediocre looking jersey was long enough, why they wouldn't use this chance to try and improve the look is staggering to me. Not impressed

Nope. The NHL's approval process is rather onerous. I can guarantee the earliest they could change again is next year.

That said, I hope they can at least fix that ridiculous captain's C quickly.

Begrudgingly gave a 'like', because they cleaned up the look of the existing jersey and they didn't make anything worse. I couldn't have realistically hoped for anything better than that.

has not KK stated that the retros will be back in the near future. As far as I am concerned everything they have done during this whole switch to Adidas thing makes sense. Especially if they choose to go with retros for the 40th anniversary. Why completely overhaul this to only wear it for a few years. The piping for me was the big issue. Like everyone else I am tired of these but at least they fixed the main issue. I also have a feeling that these are really going to pop on HD. Once all suited up they will look much cleaner on TV. If by the time our 40th comes around and no change, then I will be really disappointed. But I do not see a reason to do a complete overhaul if their plan is to come up with something new for the 40th.

Everyone loved the 2003 versions. And I am pretty sure people were not terribly disappointed with the new Reebok ones as a lot of teams had the piping to start and I believe ours were one of the better ones. The horse head was a fiasco and the pedestal ones were 20 years ago. So I am not really sure where you are coming from.
