If you had told me 12 months ago that Geno Smith would get this type of contract my inside voice would have launched all sorts of insults at that person. Today I'd be eating crow and make Skip Balis look like an all time grest humanitarian. Lesson here...always expect the unexpected.
We'll see what's real and what's Monopoly money here but I'd guess at least half of it is guaranteed.

Quite a fair deal, tough to find much wrong with it. Still fully expect the Seahawks to draft a QB, but this contract doesn't hamstring them at all.

Yeah no issue with that, and I definitely think Seattle drafts a QB to tutor under Geno in these next couple years. Consumate pro and model of consistency.

The money is crazy but it's a pretty good story for a guy that was holding a clipboard for the previous 6 seasons. He's fit in on that team and was really good last season and at 32 he's still got some good years left. It's probably going to be hard to duplicate last season but at the very least he cashed in.

NFL going toe-to-toe with College games on Black Friday on Amazon, for Free. It is a shame because those Black Friday NCAA games are usually enjoyable and rivalries.

If Rodgers does go to the Jets he’ll just be one team and many millions of dollars defrauded from the poor of Mississippi away from his Favre career arc. Good for him

Non-exclusive tag it is for Lamar. Now time to see if someone can create a contract structure the Ravens can't/won't match.

Obviously horrific contract, but good for Jones parlaying one mediocre year into $40 million per. Lamar probably overjoyed too.

If I'm Howie Roseman, I'm racing to get a Hurts deal done.

I imagine the Eagles are waiting for Lamar's deal to use as a baseline. Using Jones as a baseline would mean Hurts, Burrow, Lamar could all ask for $65 million per.

I mean, you have to admire Daniel Jones and his agents. Good for him.

I don't understand NFL teams sometimes. The Giants declined the 5th year option on him based on his previous 3 seasons (something everyone saw coming) yet they hand him a $140 million deal based on a run of six games where he was good? I imagine this was more about keeping both Barkley and Jones as it's a long shot to expect Barkley to remain healthy but I just don't see this working out well for the Giants as Jones is such an average QB. This ruins the market for teams with better than average QB's.

Will the Lamar deal get done? I guess maybe the Falcons would be willing to pay him all that money guaranteed but to me it seems like something few organizations would be willing to do. Leave it to the Browns and Giants to totally put the QB salary scale out of whack.

Falcons already came out and said they won't be pursuing him.

The oddest thing for me is after last year Daboll should have a ton of goodwill in the bank. Like enough goodwill to go 0-17 next year and keep his job. Perfect time to let Jones and Barkley walk, accumulate some more young talent, and go ahead and tank for a real QB next year. Instead, they've essentially conscripted themselves to purgatory. And sometimes being in the wrong conference makes all the difference. I can't imagine an AFC team would commit to Jones when they have to get through the murderers row of QBs to get to a Super Bowl. In the NFC, where Kirk Cousins is likely to be the second best QB in the conference? Easier to delude yourself I suppose.

He threw 15 TD passes and that was his 2nd best season ever. Who did the Giants think they were bidding against here? I guess we will have to wait and see what the guaranteed money is but this has all the makings of a massive mistake by the organization.
