I am mostly interested if there's a NMC or buyout protection.
Lol, why do you come on here pretending to be a flames fan when everyone already knows you are a Canucks fan?

Wait that's the joke right, everyone knows you are doing it and we all play along?

What news to get up to. Neal is big, dirty and happens to be a great player. Checks all the boxes.
Older and not cheap, but teams that penny pinch or overthink the cap never get anywhere. Gotta give to get.

Very happy with this.

Maybe team team can have some swagger and now and that in turn motivates Brouwer? Pipe dream, but if that happens this team will be tough to play against.

Beagle and Roussel = 6.25M/4 years
Neal = 5.75M/5 years

Let that sink in for a moment...

I have admittedly been a Neal fan since the Dallas days but have wavered with some of his weaselly play over the years. I have to say this is a huge signing and I am really excited about it. Neal will be perfect here- great talent with some veteran leadership and has matured. Like that he has some grit, as long as he plays on the edge and not over it. I was a bit underwhelmed with the flames moves so far but now... wow!!!

Good signing a guy who is hungry to win and can fill a top 6 role. So much better than last year's acquisition. One more veteran depth signing for the bottom 6 and we are set for 2018/2019 with a great mix of youth and wisdom at all ends of the ice (paging Jarome Iginla).

On the top line Neal should hopefully hit 50-55 points for the next few years.

After that, it'll be Seattle expansion and the last few years will likely become Seattle's problem, if he's still showing value relative to his contract.

Was that the last time, though?

He had a 40g campaign, and another with a 40g pace... those were with PIT, I believe.

Did he play with anyone significant in NSH?

Ya, I'm curious if he has that potential again... he had more modest stats in NSH, but I assume he has much lesser linemates.

Can't recall the line usage, but his last year in Nashville had Forsberg, Johansen, Arvidsson on the team.

Was leery of Neal with the six year term being thrown around but this cap hit at five years is a lot more reasonable. Shrewd negotiating by Treliving! This creates depth all through the forward ranks.

This signing was great for another reason.

I'm a bit of a news hound, so last night before bed, I was sipping my brandy in my Howard Hughesesque smoking jacket when CTV news did their sports highlights with the TSN crew. Yup Taveres signs in Toronto get it, Lebron goes to LA . . . yup. Plekanec goes to Montreal . . . who freaking cares , Stastny goes to Vegas . . .burn, and in the last moves of the day Edmonton signs Brodziak and Reider and they show highlights of Brodziak scoring. Back to you news desk.

So F you, Treliving has had pretty much the best couple of weeks outside of Toronto who signed the free agent.

I think Corsi has earned the benefit of the doubt that he’s posting in good faith and thoroughly enjoys discussing hockey generally. What’s the point in personally ripping into the guy like this? His point was valid and has nothing to do with the Canucks. It comes off poorly for people who aren’t CHF when they try to brigade against him.

Forsberg is a RW too, correct?... so I don't imagine they played together much.

Hmm, I wonder if 35g isn't a reasonable expectation for Neal, assuming he plays with Gaudreau??

Since the Hamilton trade created less cap space, I don’t know how you can attach a random UFA signing to that trade.

What a great signing. He was the face of the Vegas franchise at the start of the season.

Love this deal.

What an offseason for the GM, that fire Treliving thread should be locked.

Klimckuk and Lazar are not pushing for much, let alone Frolik

Any team that can make the playoffs is essentially a cup contender, so yes.
