What’s with Nintendo trying to overhype splatoon? They’ve tried this before with previous consoles and it never works. I’m looking at reviews and it’s getting 7/10.

A good game will sell itself.

Yeah look at those 6/100 reviews at 7/10 or lower...

Those 3 are the best places to start IMO.

I'm a huge fan of Mario X Rabbits - but it's a great simplified turn based strategy game. You can never go wrong with Mario Kart. Golf Story is a great throwback to Mario Golf on the Game Boy Color if you ever played that.

Plus NBA & FIFA have been cleaned up with patches and IMO are pretty faithful representations of the games on PS4/XBOX with downgraded graphics and limited features missing.

I’m looking at reviews and breath of the wild is getting 7/10. Why is Nintendo trying to overhype it so much?

I think every semi popular game does well in user reviews on meta critic.

You realize we're talking about critic's reviews? I can't even remember the last time I took any user reviews seriously on Metacritic.

"Love the game, but they covered up boobs. 0/10"

Do you guys have connection issues with the joycons when in console mode (plugged into the TV)? I've been playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and notice the lag sometimes, like the A button doesn't work when I press it or when I'm rotating the camera with the right analog stick, it sometimes keeps spinning on me. It's annoying, and TBH the wii nunchuks were way better response-wise compared to these things. Kind of disappointed in the console because of it. Does this mean I have to bite the bullet and buy a Switch Pro controller? Those things are kinda pricey ($90 for a controller?!)

There was a big issue at launch with left joy cons having bad connections. I had to send mine in, they fixed it for free and I had it back in less than a week

Since being fixed I've had no issues, and I bought a second set that didn't have the problem

Hmm, maybe I'll have to re-sync and see if that fixes it.

I also had the infamous "left joycon" issue, and like Wood experienced, it was fixed by Nintendo very quickly, with all shipping charges covered.

In my case, my joycons that came with the Switch were fine, but my second set had the issue.

Also, it seems that the controllers themselves can have their firmware updated. In settings there is an option to update the controllers. I did the update a few weeks ago after discovering that it was possible, although I had no issues that I was trying to fix. It may or may not help your issue (if you haven't already done it), but it can't hurt any to rule out the firmware as the culprit.

Okay - Switch newbie here.

Wife and I bought the system yesterday and since we figured we'd play together a lot we got a second set of Joycons. Started playing Mario Odyssey and when we selected 2 players, it told us to each use one half of the joy con. I felt like just holding one half in both hands was awkward, but is that how the game is played? Or can we tell the system we have two controllers and want to use both. We only had it out of the box for 30 minutes or so, so we didn't really play around with it, but sort of wondering if we wasted $100 on an extra controller that we didn't need to get.

My son and niece were playing Odyssey with two "full" sets of joycons (2 each, in the grip) on the weekend. I believe that we just went : home > controllers > and then did the L+R simultaneously to register each set as a single controller. Nintendo seems a bit obsessed with split joycons for Odyssey, but I've just never gotten used to it.

You'll find that menu helpful whenever switching controller configurations around. Going from 2 player Mario Kart to 4 player split-joycons, for example.

I don't think that you'll regret the extra set of joycons though, even at $100. Being able to split them and play 4 player Mario Kart occasionally is pretty neat, even if they're a bit awkward. Plus you can charge a set while using the other.

And if charging via a cable while playing is NOT of interest to you, then do yourself a favour and skip the overpriced Nintendo charging grip and pick yourself up one of these: https://www.amazon.ca/Nintendo-Switc...do+switch+grip

It actually feels better in my hands than the OEM Nintendo one, and I have never felt like I needed to tether myself to a USB cable while playing to charge.

Tiny Metal is out now. This should hold us over until Nintendo gives us a legit Advance Wars game.

I’m checking out a new indie game called Blossom Tales. It’s basically a direct take on a 2D Zelda and not at all ashamed of it. It’s also pretty good so far too! I’ve only played about an hour so far but I’m enjoying it.
