University of Chicago receives mysterious package for Dr Jones

Apparently someone went through the trouble of creating a near exact replica of the journal down to the postage in the "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and sent it to the University of Chicago addressed to Indiana Jones. Lucasfilms have no idea where it came from and the University of Chicago has now gone public looking for who sent the bloody thing. Maybe this means a new Indie movie is on its way, maybe not. Either way someone spent a huge amount of time on it.

Earlier this week the University of Chicago received what might be an elaborate hoax, a miracle, or the best college admissions application of all time: Abner Ravenwood’s journal from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

The journal came in a package addressed to Henry Walton Jones, Jr. but wasn’t sent through the U.S. mail — its stamps are fake. It’s a near-perfect replica of the journal Indiana Jones uses in Raiders, but it’s not the real deal – Lucasfilm also doesn’t know its origins — and the university has absolutely no idea how it found its way into Rosenwald Hall, which houses the school’s admissions department and where the staff initially thought it was just a piece of mail meant for a professor that got lost on the way.

Story from NPR: Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade (Of Lost Mail)

...A man in Guam contacted the University of Chicago saying that one of the replica journals he sells on eBay never made it to its highest bidder in Italy.

Apparently, the journal had slipped out of its original packaging somewhere in Hawaii. The only name and address that remained, Henry Walton Jones, Jr. in Chicago, Illinois...
