Default Anyone here buy a website template?

I'm ok at html, but I want a nice flash site. I was thinking of getting something like this: http://www.templatemonster.com/flash...tes/10504.html Yes, $70 is a lot, but for a long term website that looks decent, I'm willing to buy it.

Anyone around here buy one of these before? Are they easy to customize?

You can do some things through customization if you know flash... but it's not the same a knowing html.

promise me if you buy that template you'll find a way to make the mute button much easier to find!

unfortunately I've never bought one, so I'm kind of useless to you.

One thing to keep in mind about building a flash website, they are not indexed well in search engines. In particular, the google web crawler does not interpret them well (if even at all) meaning your site will be difficult to find unless the viewer knows the URL already.

I personally recommend people investigate all other options then Flash as the main medium for building a website.

I agree with llama64, while flash is pretty slick, you can usually accomplish 95% of it in either HTML/CSS/etc or that with a sprinkling of flash.

Flash sites can also break navigation (back arrow takes you away from the site, go forward and you're staring at square one), makes deep linking difficult (no one can link to a specific page in your site) etc..

It does depend on the type of site it is though, those issues might not matter.

Thanks for all the input. It would a personal website, so I don't need to have it index.

I just want a website that looks good and I don't have the skill for it. They have a free one to download and try so I'll give it a go

I've bought one off of template monster and I didn't know flash... It took a long time to figure out what the heck I was doing but it turned out in the end...If I wasn't getting payed for it I probably would of said the hell with it and do it in html... Just remember what you see in the "demo" is exactly what you get.. so if you see some of the links that should open a new window... they won't open in the bought version either... also make sure it has enough pages you want... I ended up using a hybrid of flash and html just to make life easier
