There's a double standard where one can apologise and still keep their job.

For example:

Behar said in regards to Mike Pence and his religious beliefs, ”It’s one thing to talk to Jesus. It’s another thing when Jesus talks to you. That's called mental illness, if I'm not correct. Hearing voices."

Evangelicals believe that Jesus speaks to them through the Bible. Here are some of the things he said: love God, love people, turn the other cheek, pray, keep my commandments…and make disciples.

But that is not the way Omarosa's comment was taken by Behar. No, she interpreted to mean that Pence and others are "hearing voices."

https://www.indystar.com/story/opini...ept/423424002/

Pence said at that time, “To have ABC maintain a broadcast forum that compared Christianity to mental illness is just wrong.”

...and then Roseanne compared black people to monkeys and blamed a drug that calms you down.

I think the right is saying Roseanne made a joke and got fired. But Kimmel and Colbert makes jokes demeaning Trump everyday and they get to keep their jobs. This must mean that they think ethnic and racist slurs are equivalent to jokes that ridicule the powerful.

Although it is weird that Kimmel suddenly claimed mental illness and to show compassion and restraint when he stomps on many public figures quickly and harshly with a large audience.

I would imagine the difference is he recently did an interview with Roseanne and had that human connection, and I guess confirmation that there is mental illness present. You don't have to worry about that if you don't know the person or their mental health history.

What Rosanne said is terrible and her show deserved to be cancelled. Feel
Bad for everyone else who worked the show. But I’m sure they will find work.

But I’m not sure why anyone would care what a Hollywood person would say? Their opinions on anything mean so little.

Sure, but millions follow celebrities and they take their word. I think Hollywood celebrity messages mean a lot, for right or wrong. Twitter and such are great propaganda tools.

It's partly how Trump got elected.

Rosanna is a racist, if this was a one time thing and then it came out that she had a mental illness, that would be one thing. Rosanna has been rude, crude, racist and ignorant since she became famous. Zhe wasn't saying stuff like this before the show or the show wouldn't hav made it out of the gate. She was given another chance, not second chance, took advantage of it and made the show. Now she all of a sudden is making comments like this, publicly, so crap hit the fan. She either this is she can say whatever she wants because she's famous againor she's suffering from mental illness and has become unstable, or she's not taking care of herself, or she needs a lot more help. Whatever the reason, she proved that she isn't reliable and it'll only get worse from here. There has to be some consequences for her actions, she can now either get the help she needs to cope with her illness or continue her racist behavior from the comfort of her home where no one cares about her.

I don't believe Roseanne's excuse, but on Sanofi's own website:

That's not to say people shouldn't be responsible for their actions when under the influence of drugs or alcohol, just that I think people are focused on the wrong thing here.

I just love that she blames Ambien and an enormous Pharmaceutical company decided that they werent going to stand for that and fought back.

Thats like blaming the dog for burning down your house.

This is so weak. Reminds me of the recent Trinity Western University debates where people tried to make the argument that they were being discriminated against because no one wanted to uphold their right to discriminate against homosexuals.

I also think that Roseanne being Roseanne was likely skating on thin ice from Day 1 so its a disingenuous comparison at best anyways.
