You should send in your receipts and get reimbursed by the CRTC CanCon department.

Choir! Choir! Choir! is a blast.

They sung on Parliament Hill last Canada Day and did the anthem at the Grey Cup. You'll recognize Nobu from the Trailer Park Boys.

Hey,

Just looking for some advice on when to go to the tents on the weekend? Thinking of going to Nashville North or some other ones on the first Saturday. Does anyone know when is a good time to generally go so there isn't a massive lineup? I was thinking around 1-2 PM?

Hit or miss for Nashville North on the first saturday. 1-2 pm you should have no issue getting in. But some years I have shown up at 2-3 pm and there is an hour long line up.

That was before it moved and the expanded capacity though. There is also the new place in the Big 4 so it could help lower crowds. Along with bigger beer gardens on the grounds.

Just go before the Rodeo gets let out at least.

Edit: Oh and don't be afraid of the line. A lot of times they are not near capacity and the line moves very quickly.

Will my kids have more fun at the stampede or calaway park? They are 3 and a half and 6 year old girls. I may end up taking them to both in the end.

I can't comment on which would be better. But I would imagine Stampede as there are plenty of things to do (see animals etc).

But for the record, if you pre-buy a season pass for callaway park before the season starts (so for next year) it only costs $45 for the year. Which amounts to 1.5 visits. Its a steal for something in town you can go and spend a few hours if your kids are really into rides and such. Something to think about for next year.

I think the general rule for Nashville is to get there before the rodeo lets out. You should get in no problem around 1-2.

1-2 would be no problem. Just get there before the rodeo is done around 4/430 and you're good.

Even if it appears long, it move significantly faster during the day than it does at night. Prediction: Max 15minutes to get in at that time.

When my kids were their age we would take them to Calaway park for the rides and to the Airdrie rodeo instead on the Stampede. They had a great time and didn't miss a thing. When they got a bit older we started going to the Stampede with them.

It is so nice to see the dog show, Dog Bowl, back inside the Corral instead of being outside. It is such a better venue and it is great to get out of the sun or rain for 30 to 45 minutes to watch the dogs. It was also great to not have to stand in a long line way before the start time hoping to get a seat. Thank you Calgary Stampede.

Went down for my one day at the Stampede trip and did a walk around, went to the armed forces guys to chat, this year was a better display and moved, they had a fire arms simulation but par for the course, it was broken which was too bad.

Talked to two fellows who were absolutely not with JTF2 and had never ever heard of it, and one guy was from the typing pool, he swears.

Did 17000 steps.

Ate a footlong corndog a fiddle stick and a bad of melt in your mouth hot mini donuts (So delicious, but no need for dinner tonight.

Footlong Corndog surprisingly 375 calories
fiddle stick 250 calories
1 bag of plain minidonuts 500 calories total

1125

Calories burned 2500 calories according to fit bit

2500 calories for 17000 steps? That seems a little high.

maybe, but it was a pretty brisk walk, and it was freaking hot out there. That's what the fitbit was telling me.

If they were JTF2, there is no way they would admit it.

The tac unit there was MTOG and not JTF2. They are pretty new and specialize in boarding hostile vessels.

(Although, I do know of one soldier here that was/is JTF2. He will never admit that to any one but we served at the same time and know each other from a mutual friend and old roomie of mine, who I served with before he joined the JTF2.

He’s a good friend and when he’s in town we celebrate our mutual friends passing.)
