Great. If Sportsnet is broadcasting this I guess we'll learn how to say 'McDavid' in Mandarin.

Cool! It will be nice for me to get to watch a Flames game in the evening for once.
Last season it seemed like the Kings and Nucks got off to very hot starts before falling back. This could mean the Flames will actually be ready for regular season game 1 but the extra travel could come back to bite them later in the season.

Haha I was going to say the same thing. 加油works especially well with the Flames.
Just for context for people who don't know...in China they don't say Go ____ Go! to cheer a team on they say 加油 which means "add oil".
I'll be going to his game for sure. I hope Marchand comes so I can yell things at him.

This is exciting! I'm planning a trip to Shenzhen for this game and family visits. It'll be cool to don the flaming C in China!
So far I've seen flights from YYC to SZX for about $600-$780 with a couple of stopovers which isn't too bad.
Any idea what the ticket pricing would be like?

If other’s are interested, I can try to establish a group room block most convienient to Hilton/Marriott/SPG property’s closest to the arena. Just to put a room block in. I have connections because this is my modus operandi. PS. Chinese hotels work better with certainty. I will do this tomorrow so please let me know as soon as that. I am taking no commission

Too bad I will be going to Hong Kong and Beijing in a couple of weeks. If I knew the Flames would be playing there, I would have schedule my trip during September. I can't afford to go for a 2nd trip in such short time span............

I should be able to make it to the first game. 2 hour flight for me. Looking forward to my first live Flames hockey in 3 years.
Shame I missed the Gulutzan era.

Count me as one who thinks this is awful timing for this team - first training camp for Peters and he has to deal with an NHL sideshow circus to China. This team is under a lot of pressure this coming season ... why the @#$# would Edwards et al agree to this.

LOL if a pair of exhibition games in China is going to sink our season just because we have a new coach, we are in way deeper trouble than we think. Personally, I think it will be a good bonding experience for the team.

LOL if you think its really just a matter of icing a team for 2 games in China. There is a A LOT of organization needed for this, and it is very disruptive for a new coach looking to imprint his plan onto this team to have his roster fly halfway across the globe for a couple meaningless games.
i didn't say it would sink our season. But its a kick in the pants to Peters for sure.

From a hockey ops perspective, I would not be happy with this. I'd want my players and staff in town getting down to business and preparing.
But as a fan who might make an experience out of it, it is pretty cool.

Taking a while to get to 5000

4 teams played overseas last year. 2 were just fine (1 actually overachieved), 1 regressed under a coach that had already experienced 2nd year failure and 1 was rebuilding anyway.
We need to stop looking for things to worry about 4 months in advance.
