Flames Who Would You Like to Bring as Assistant Coaches?

It's looking more likely that Bill Peters will be the next head coach for the Calgary Flames. Who are some good assistant coaches available?

Mike yeo: PP and offensive coordinator
Nate Leeman:PK and Defensive coordinator
Ilya Bryzgalov: Goalie coach and team PR consultant.

All post game interviews with the coach have to be done ny Bryz also.

In all seriousness Goalie coaches are always hard to chose.

That would be a great option, just don't see it though, as it seems like some teams have interest in him being head coach. Such as the NYR.

PP / Forwards
Todd Nelson is considered a power play stud. In fact he ran a strong PP in Edmonton after Eakins was fired and a strong PP allowed him to lead an AHL team to the Calder Cup. Also had success developing Anthona Mantha.

PK / Defense
Brian Campbell

I believe our defensemen need guidance and backing on staff from someone who's actually been a great defenseman in the NHL. Peters has the PK system in place and the coach just has to implement it. You look at Pittsburgh and they have Gonchar on staff. Anaheim has Neidermayer on staff. Up until last year, Nashville had Phil Housley on staff, who got himself promoted to Buffalo's head coach. A stubborn head coach is more likely to listen to feedback from someone who's actually been a star in the league and Campbell was a hell of a defenseman in his day. I mean hell he'd still be an upgrade on at least Stone as a player today.

If we're talking about ex-players as assistant coaches. I'd be 100% on board of bringing Robyn Regehr into the organization.

When I point to Gonchar, Neidermayer, and Housley being assistants on some good teams, I'm talking about their ability to play both ends as players and really think the game offensively. I don't mind Regehr but that's not exactly the vision I had.

Good ones. That would be a start. I can't remember the last really good assistant coach we had.

AV on offense, Sutter on D, Kipper as the goalie coach.

In all honesty I don't think it matters, if we have a coach who isn't proven, get some assistants who aren't proven either.

To work with the forwards, Jaromir Jagr. Larry Robinson for the defence.

If those are your best examples, you need to try harder or expect more. Neither has done much since their time here.

The response was best assistant coach the flames had for he flames while being employed by the flames, not how they are currently in the present career.

Which is what matters...
