Ill be honest, this is winging it to the max right now as there isn't a ton of top 200 lists yet. But these cats interest me. There's more than that but man theres a ton of tiny in this draft.

FWIW, I am hearing the Flames have scouted UK wonder kid Liam Kirk multiple times. Doesn't necessarily mean that they are going out of the way to draft him, but it seems he is on their radar.

Background for him:
http://www.thehockeynews.com/news/ar...trained-player

Quote:
“For this kid to be doing what he’s doing in that environment (the men’s league in Great Britain) makes it worth our while to get to know him a little better,” said NHL director of central scouting Dan Marr. “There are NHL clubs aware of him and CHL (Canadian Hockey League) clubs are definitely aware of him. If he were in North America playing Jr. A or high school, or even in a junior league in Finland, there would be some buzz about him.”
Quote:
Until then, Kirk will try to continue to impress playing in the EIHL and international events, hoping an NHL team might be willing to gamble on him with a late-round pick. The problem for Central Scouting is it’s difficult to draw comparisons with his peers. “He’s got decent size, but he’s going to have to get bigger and stronger,” Marr said. “He’s a really bright kid and he’s a very good skater. His hockey sense is pretty good and his skills are decent.”

How about an over-ager like Justin Almeida? Don't know how he's ranked #125 in NA, but he's showing high level scoring close to what he put up in bantam. 98 pts in 72 games for Moose Jaw.

It would be funny if this time they take Tkachuk over Evan Bouchard who is having a crazy season in London.

Then it ends up being Bouchard >>> B.Tkachuk & M.Tkachuk >>> Juolevi.

Reverse the scenario and they end up taking the wrong guy again.

I'm honestly surprised that Bouchard isn't getting more hype in the top 5. An older guy for his draft year but to be 1.3 ppg as a d-man, and leading your team in scoring by 33 points is impressive. Also played comparably to Juolevi and Mete last year by the end of the season.

This is a weird player but I have a funny feeling about him. I think he's sees NHL ice one day.

I do. Going from 28 points to 98 the way he did says far more about how stacked the Warriors are than it does his quality individually.

As much as I would like Brady Tkachuk on the team, I am truly curious to see what kind of player he turns out to be. Keep in mind from my understanding he is probably the oldest person in this draft. Had he been born a day or two sooner, he would have been eligible for last years draft. Hence is he really that good or is he a product of being older than most of his peers in the draft year

I don't know why people are so high on Brady? His stats are not impressive, am i missing something?

Any team that picks him in the top 10 would regret it imo. mid teens or early 20 pick, he could be a good pick but not top 10.

I'm looking for the next Petersson of this draft (steal) and i think it could be Hughes, he's putting better numbers than Makar and he's not getting enough attention.

So the more games that Calgary losses the higher they draft in the 4th round?

I am willing to bet Calgary drafts before the 4th round...I would also bet that draft weekend isn't boring around these parts.

Another Kid to look for around the Flames picks as they stand now is Albin Eriksson. 6'4 204 lbs RHS who can skate and is a pure shooter with some grit.

Will just turn 18 around the draft so he is one of the younger draft eligibles. Actually may be my favorite of what Ive been looking at . Although Button did have him #29 on his list at some point.

http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=265297

THW has him #73..

Dobbers has him at #48

anyways, I suspect he may go in the 2nd round due to size and shooting. But someone I noticed in mock drafts going around the 4th round.

Haven’t you lost most of your bets when it’s come to the Flames this year?

So tough to tell watching the highlight videos if his skill is really that amazing or the talent pool is just so weak in the UK. Definitely a Homerun pick like Janko but for the lower rounds. 6.2 RHS C does seem appealing. But I think there's a TON of development thats going to need to happen if he has a chance at the NHL.

FYP

I hope you are right. Draft week is a nice perennial consolation for Flames fans.

Even before the story last week I had a sneaky suspicion that treliving is looking to move up. I mean it's an easy assumption to make especially given that we need a bit of a shake up somehow but it wouldn't surprise me if they have their eye on someone who they think might drop into the second. A kylington type maybe.

Either way, we don't do so bad with 4th round picks (I think Ruzicka could be a good pick).
