I don't think Tkachuk needs to match Gaudreau's points to be 'equivalent' value-wise to the team. It's the nature of team sports - no single player possess all the attributes needed for a successful team. But you need a good mix for different situations. We were spoiled with Iggy for so many years. Now we need multiple players to add up to that truculence, production, and leadership.

Gaudreau is the obvious most valuable skater to this team at the moment, at least in my mind. But Chucky wouldn't need to put up a 90 point season before I switched my mind on that.

I'm not so sure. He had some nagging injury issues last year which slowed him down. Not saying I'd throw anything big to get him but tt could be a buy low scenario.

Though I don't disagree with the overall premise of it being a poor comparison, to be fair Smyth had 35 goal / 65-70 point seasons at his best. Not sure ridiculous is an apt choice of word at this juncture.

Keith Tkachuk scored 30 plus goals 8 times and I think both his sons could be just as good.

I’d love to see Matthew put up those points for sure but what he does for the team measures to be much more. Love this kid and what he brings.
