Agree to disagree. I would like a flames team that doesn't need to rely on 10 straight wins to make playoffs or 5 straight wins to just get back into the mix of playoffs.
The changes that I mention in the final paragraph are things I have been calling for all year. I don't have anything against GG but I do feel he is slow to adjust and has greatly underperformed with the roster he has. That said, if Cameron had a PP that worked, we may not have ever seen this thread created.

With the changes GG has made so far and the progress, it would be a shame if
the PP was the cause of a playoff exit. I could see that being a factor when playoff teams tend to tighten up. Still lots of time, anything can change, improve between now and then.

Who actually does the PP Cameron or Jerrard? I thought it was Jerrard not sure.

Many posters, myself included, sighted the team inconsistency, the coaches inability to adjust and the team playing under it's ability for wanting the coach changed. If anything, this current winning streak is validation of what a lot of us have been saying all year, this team is too good to have the record it had. It shouldn't have taken >30 games into a second season to make adjustments.
Having said that, I couldn't be happier the team is winning.

I actually appreciate that our coaches will look at a larger sample size before making changes. I cant imagine what a team run by this forum would look like week to week

We'd probably have $100,000,000.00 payroll for one thing.

It would be interesting to look at what the longest winning streak is for every team that has made the playoffs
I would wager a long streak is common
10 is unusual but it feels like you need to rip at least one off of some length to get in

That could backfire as well, look how lost Bennett seemed when he was put in a situation that wasn't working for him. A lot of people thought he was done.. a complete bust and should be traded.
Completely pleased to see the Flames playing a lot better, thanks to the players stepping up and coaches recognizing some problem areas.

Throwing the stick seems to have work. The team is firing on all cylinders now. Offense is producing, defense is sound (which it has been for a while now), and the PP has been producing in the past few games.
And they've been doing this against good teams.
Hopefully this carries through after the break. If so, this team is playing up to their potential.

They had won two straight before Gulutzans tantrum. I would say there is a lot more to the Flames recent success than that.

I see some posters have slipped in some 'no' votes in the last few days who didn't vote when this poll was fresh... very sneaky.
Personally, I'm really glad the Flames are winning and the streak has been great! I'd still rather have Darryl coaching. If that wasn't an option for him though, things seem to be working out anyway, so that's good.

I mean, I voted "No" on Thursday but I would've voted the same way when this poll was fresh. The Flames have fired enough coaches in the last few years, the best run franchises in sports let their coaches have a chance.
The only thing I've wanted from GG was more emotion and fire to truly be a leader of men and it looks like he's been bringing it lately

I think there has been a lot of really good discussion.
I also think there there were some very legitimate beefs with how he was managing the team. And interestingly enough, he has adjusted with respect to many of them.
We're seeing more emotion.
We're seeing better player utilization.
We're seeing changes with respect to personnel on the PP
We've seen changes with the way players are being utilized on the PK
We're seeing some of the older, slower guys losing ice-time to younger guys.
We're seeing much more passion from Gulutzan.
We're seeing the defense join in the offense much more.
We're seeing better - and more physical - defensive coverage.
Coaches can have good and bad stretches, just like players can. Gulutzan was being agonizingly stubborn with his policies for the first 30-35 games. But we have seen much more flexibility, and many more adjustments from him over the past few weeks.

The people that get on their high horse during a winning streak are no better than the ones accused of panicking on a losing streak. I expect better of you than this. Thread is totally legitimate given their play in the first 2.5 months of the season.

Exactly. Also, this thread started when Brouwer was on the first PP. Brodie was the lone D on the first PP. The fourth line was getting too much ice time. Janko, Mangipane were in the AHL, Bartkowski was the 6th D and Bennett was looking for his first point of the season as a C. Oh and the emotions, pretty sure even Warrener brought it up how the team lacked a soul. Then the stick incident came.
We all complained about it, he finally made the changes and now the team is winning. Go figure. Maybe we weren't so embarrassing after all. If he didn't make the changes WE WERE ASKING FOR are we still on a 7 game win streak?
I am happy that GG is coaching the way I wanted. Had he done it day one I would not have complained.
