Plus they beat Spurs to win the trophy, so it barely counts.

LOL are Man City contractually obligated to be in the same group as Shakhtar Donetsk every year?

So do Liverpool and Napoli. It seems like they are always drawn together doesn't matter if it's the Champions League or Europa League...

Truth be told this all looks pretty boring. Only groups F, G, and H don't look like foregone conclusions.

D, E, F are the tough ones for a big name squad

G and h could see any of the 4 go through, which is great

Really nice draw

I really like this group for Ajax.
No real top teams, no clear favourite to win the group and -thankfully- no eastern european opponents. We just can't get a good result against them.

How did Zenit get into Pot 1 while Real was in Pot 2 and Inter Pot 3?

Group F & H seems like group of deaths to me, while Group C & G are more like group lol...

Pot 1 is cl champs, europa champs, and winners of top 6 leagues by coefficient

The rest are just ranked by their individual coefficients

Top 8 in 2, next 8 in 3 etc.

Zenit actually won their league and it was one of the top six leagues. Either way it's not like Madrid are gonna struggle with that group.

Only other real possibility is Portugal.

Funnily enough, France is closer to Russia, then the other 4.

Agreed, other than a few groups it looks like it could be fun.

Tottenham drawing a weak Bayern could see them winning their group.

Groups F and H are going to be a lot of fun to watch.

I'm just happy no group of death again, and as weve seen in past, 1st or 2nd isnt a huge benefit anymore imo, so many strong teams

Agree on F and H, ya there are favorites, but that could see any combo of teams and it wouldnt be seen as a huge upset

warming up to F a lot too, barca arent what they are, dortmund are a young and fun team, and inter are on the up as well

Even group C which is by far the least engaging, should have some fun games at least

Only problem I see is how the schedule will be set up, it comes out in an hour or so

But E to H will have at least 5 or 6 entertaining games on its day, and A-D, not so much if the games with the top 2 teams get clustered

God I know the odds are slim but who wouldn't want to see Zagreb vs Red Star in a knock out stage?

Yes getting to see a mass riot (or more likely games in front of empty stadiums) would definitely be great.

I was thinking the same thing.

Lets just reignite the Balkan war while we're at it.
