It sounds like we need a dedicated X-Men thread

It doesn't. The tone feels the same. It takes a second to get used to some of the voices, some being new, some being almost 30 years older.

But after that it flows great. My only gripe is one of the characters new costume. Other than that, great stuff.

Action scenes are even better, work much more like a team.

I've watched most of the first episode on the commute in. It's a trip. Some of the dialogue is purposely written to be corny and Saturday morning cartoon-like. Takes some getting used to, but overall pretty good so far.

And dont get me wrong, I like Farrell and I think he's got the chops, I just question the material and the interest.

Honestly I feel the same, but the transformation alone and looking at that character and thinking that is actually Colin Farrell? Has me hooked to watch it.

Yeah agreed. I wasn't all that interested but Farrell looks to be killing it. If you just considered it a new gangster movie starring Colin Farrell in unrecognizable make up and voice as a mob boss, you'd probably have people falling over themselves for it.

It's just a movie right? Not a series? I hope so. I can do 2-2.5 hours of it. A whole 10 episode thing would be too much probably.

I feel like I remember it being initially introduced as a series, but that may have changed.

Well that's a meh for me. But I'll check out at least the start of it. I think thats the mistake of doing a show. If I start a movie, I'll probably finish it. If I start a TV series, if I'm not loving it after 1 or 2 episodes I'm out.

Ya the show thing is over played for me. I think Disney has just scarred me on it with all their shows being 8-10 episodes that could have been 4-5.

It's basically the best way to watch Oppenheimer; 18 parts on tiktok, each stitched with various mundane tasks. The sand ones are the best

So what do we all feel with the Silver Surfer casting?

https://people.com/julia-garner-play...c-four-8624543

I haven't watched Ozark, but she's won a few awards on the show. I'm not a huge fan of the gender swap. I know the character exists in the comics (Shalla-Bal), but most fans are more familiar with Norrin Radd. It just feels like another confusing decision by Disney/Marvel. To choose a relatively unknown actor for such a prominent role. Can they expect her to lead her own franchise (beyond Fantastic Four) when they've already alienated much of the fanbase?

It's not a gender swap, it's a different character that's existed pretty much the same amount of time. There's also no indication that this excludes Radd. Both can exist.

Man, I would consider myself a pretty big comic nerd and I just can't wrap my head around why people care so much about using different characters or even a gender/race swap for the sake of making a lineup of characters that don't all look the same. It's boring when there's a bunch of dudes (mostly white) in a row fighting the bad guys.

Comics have been gender/race swapping their characters for the sake of more sales and inclusion since the beginning of comic books. It's not a new thing Disney came up with. I don't look at the movies as anything different than when a new writer/artist takes on a comic series and changes some things for the sake of something fresh. It happens all the time. God forbid some of your daughters have a cool character to enjoy.
