Shame that everything is tied to the game and they're not just doing a normal set with the Nintendo license.

Aye, it'd even be better if the minifigs had a higher resolution.

And I thought the original NES controller was uncomfortable to use...

Cheaper than projected. Nice.
Although -1 point for having a composite in on that vintage of TV.
I love this set but I'm debating if it's worth it for just a standalone set without having any interest in the actual LEGO game.

Well, they may have outdid themselves this time. A playable grand piano!! Hefty price but this could be a very difficult build.

I couldn’t get any of the videos to load, but I presume that it doesn’t actually make any piano sounds but rather only plays music through a mobile phone.
If true, then the chances of LEGO continually updating whatever app you need to play the piano are pretty slim, which means that like most pianos, it will end up collecting dust in a few months.

I don't think i would buy it to actually learn how to play the piano or anything, especially since it only has 25 keys but from what I'm reading the piano does actually work, it will connect to the phone to autoplay on its own as well.

I don't think it has any actual strings in it though, so it doesn't produce sound without being hooked up to the speakers from your phone.

Yeah good point but still pretty cool. Once its released and it shows up on youtube we'll see how it works exactly.

That looks really nice, especially if it hangs on the wall like that. Would go very nicely over top of my '89 Batmobile.

I'm just hoping this is LEGO warming up to the idea of a 10,000+ piece UCS Star Wars set. Say, like an AT-AT...
EDIT: And, yes, I agree with Ironhorse, the UCS ECTO-1 looks great!

I honestly love that Lego has almost become more in home art then a plaything.

Almost? With the Warhol/Starwars/Marvel portrait sets I'd say it has.
That reminds me I need to build my NES and display it...
