For anyone craving Stampede food that obviously didnt happen this year, Carnival Cafe has the usual corn dogs/ice cream/milk shakes and they also have deep fried things like chocolate bars and oreos. I went there a couple days ago and the lineup was out the door

I ordered one of their puck packs for tonight. Can't wait to try it out. The menu looked great!

I got some small plates from Eat Crow shortly after they opened, a month or two back. I should say, I really liked Brasserie. I understood the rebranding and approach of a small plate restaurant, and it was decent. Not great, but pretty good.

Called to get take out again yesterday, and they have changed it up. They now have a separate “to go” menu, with fewer items, more weighted towards large / meal sized versions of their small plate sandwiches

They declined to make things off of the regular menu, saying the separate menu was put in place because they needed to stop the kitchen getting overloaded

So I pick a couple of items plus a salad, show up to pick up my order, and there are two couples on the outside patio, and one table of 3 inside.

Yeah. Poor overworked kitchen staff, indeed. Hate to see how they would handle a normal level of business.

We like to sample a variety of items, and Eat Crow doesn’t want to provide that for take out.

Any other recommendations of restaurants from which you can get an assortment of small plates?

It was decent but not $140 decent. The wings weren't great but everything else tasted pretty good. That being said, with the amount of prep and reheating required I would have probably priced around $20-$25 per person. $40 per person is a bit much.

Anniversary is this week and looking for suggestions in light of the current situation- and a little out of touch on the fine dining scene. Was considering teatro or river cafe.

The meal kits that the likes of Rouge and Deane House are offering are intriguing, but probably not something we would consider- will be only about the second night out for us without kids since son was born 9 months ago and going to make it count.

We have ordered pickup from Charcut 3 or 4 times since the start, and all the meals have been fantastic. Huge portions, and well packaged to travel as takeout.

EDIT: Ah sorry, didn't read your post closely enough, you are looking for where to actually go out to....I'd recommend Modern Steak's downtown rooftop patio hands down. Gorgeous views, and great food. They also have good specials on Sundays ($99 40oz Tomahawk for 2), and the Wednesday Date Night special is an unbeatable deal ($78 for 2 steaks, sides and a bottle of wine).

That pool is a gong show now a partial capacity, I can't even comprehend what it would be like at full capacity

My guests liked the wings. I agree though. The Salt and Vinegar popcorn and the pizza egg roll was my personal favourite. I also just heated everything up one one tray. It was an ambitious menu.

Bow Valley Ranche in Fish Creek. There's an option to dine under their garden domes but with a set menu.

Are they still only doing the weekly menus? I haven't seen any updates to their website for a few weeks now.
