Had a feeling the Flames might come out flat. “Just play the same way and you’ll get some bounces next time”. Of course, that assumes Toronto — who didn’t have a particularly great game on Sunday — wouldn’t be better. Woof.

Things eventually evened out but Toronto buried a few more chances. Markstrom needed another save there but couldn’t get it.

Hopefully we get Dube back for Thursday; for a team that boosted its forward depth this offseason they aren’t really showing it yet.

Yup, both should be unemployed by summer.

This should be treliving last coaching hire, and he should be canned whenever the coach is.

He's had enough time to build a contending roster. If not this year, how much longer??

Treliving brought it onto himself.

It's this core's last chance, and he didn't think it was important to hire a NHL calibre coach.

As was obvious to anyone who watched last season Geoff Ward is not an NHL coach.

Anyone except the most over rated GM in flames history of course.

Honestly, Tkachuk should not have been the one to go after Muzzin, another teammate should have been in there beforehand.

Dumbest play ever created in hockey. I'd shoot the stupid coach who invented that sh*t.

There's always the rumour that BT wasn't given permission to go after GG or BB given what it would cost to land them.

Brutal first. Loved the effort in the last 2 periods (more so the second) but you just can’t take an entire period off in this league and expect to win games. So frustrating. Terrible decision making by Ward. We really need Dube’s energy back. The new guys have been absolute trash with the exception of Tanev and Markstrom. Nesterov has been ok but tonight was not his night. Valimaki has been struggling and appears to have regressed a bit or lost some confidence but he’s young and it’s early and he is the least of our problems. Way too many guys who just aren’t good at hockey.

But we would probably have a top 30 coach in the league if we tried someone new, who could then see what these players have in them.

Yeah it was nice to see for a change from literally anybody on or involved with (in any capacity) the team

Mangiapane has been very unlucky to start the season. Seems to be playing well but just loses handles or can't quite connect. The open chance out front from andersson in the last 5 minutes was the perfect example.

This loss I s on Ward 100 per cent in my view.

He should be in a very short leash.

The good news about playing road games, the opposing coach's matchups are likely better for us than Ward's at home.

Rookie. If anyone gets a pass it’s him. He’ll learn.

Remember he also lost an entire year of development last year.

This was a game of brutal bookmarks. The first period was brutal, the final power play was brutal.

I mean the Flames outplayed the Leafs in the second and third, and good for them on the comeback.

Just honestly I don't know if they need to shoot the players with tasers before the pregame warmup. This is a multiyear bad habit.

There were a lot of positives, however like I said when you're 2-2-1 and your 2 wins comes against the Canucks, yeah, I'm concerned.
