Default Carolina Hurricanes vs Calgary Flames - 7:00 MDT

About time!

Seems like weeks since the last game.

After a 4 day break the Flames resume action tonight against the Hurricanes, who are in town after their defeat of the Oilers on Tuesday.

Will the break and extra practice benefit the Flames? Or engender rust? Will Smith continue his hot streak? How will Jagr do with Monny and Johnny on the top line, and how long will it last?

Discuss!

Hopefully the Flames get up for this one. The Canes are an up and coming team with some great young players. They are especially strong on defense so the Flames will have to bring their A game tonight. Go Flames go!

I didn't think Will Smith played for the Flames

Flames win 5-1

Jagr, Monahan, and The Bling combine for 7 points.

Points to the OP for properly using the word "engender".

Going to say a low scoring tightly played 2-1 Flames win. 2 of the top 5 defense cores going at it here.

Goals by Frolik & Jagr in the third period bring the Flames back from and early 1st period 1-0 lead by the Canes.

Maybe score effect happened, but the Canes didn't look great at defence against the Oilers (who were worse at defence and couldn't finish much of anything on offence).

I don't know why, it’s a perfectly cromulent word.

Hurricanes are a well coached team with sneaky talent. Can't overlook them.

Maybe but don't base that on the 51 shots because that is fake news

That young American Jacob Slavin looked REALLY good vs the Oilers.

56 career points in 149 games and a plus 27 rating on a bad team.

Watch Brad trade for him for scraps hahaha.

Over under on minor penalties taken by the Flames?

Set at 5, I say under.

The Hurricanes came through first month of the season last year and the Flames laid a stinker. I didn't think they looked that great against the Oilers the other night so I feel if the Flames have their legs and are on their game they should win this one but the way the officials have been calling the Flames to open the season you could easily see the team get side tracked with penalties.

Oh I know. I actually didn't see a whole lot of shots by the Oilers. It was as though they mixed up shots and shot attempts (man the Oilers couldn't shoot).

But IMO the Canes were soft on zone entries by the Oilers, and gave up possession down low quite a bit. Like I said though, a lot of that might be score effect.
