It's what you have to do to make changes. If they keep on it the players will adapt, and hopefully we all benefit.

I’m really enjoying Lazar on this team. As someone who watched him closely during his WHL tenure I’m pumped to see him apply his offensive instincts at the NHL level. The young forward talent including Bennett and Lazar have me excited for this team going forward.

Is it the Wideman effect or is it the Gaudreau effect?

The poster child for the tap-slash crack-down is Gaudreau.

The Fames deserved some of those penalties but a couple were of the ticky tack variety that wasn't getting called on the Canucks early. Didn't like the officiating at all and the team was fortunate the Canucks have a horrible powerplay or else the mood here is different today.

I hate to keep harping on the same things but the defensive coverage is still really bad at times. Smith was left out to dry again on far too many occasions. For all the talent assembled on defense there are still far too many breakdowns.

Dougie Hamilton is being carried around the ice by Giordano early on in the season. He was really bad last night. Surprised you have him as first star.

Yeah his 2 shots that resulted in important goals were pretty pathetic.

His defensive play was pathetic. More to the game than points.

He was the worst d-man yesterday. Even Bart was better than him.

The Flames deserved all the penalties they got from what I could see, though you could argue the Canucks deserved a couple more early on.

You are starting to approach Ricardo depth of bizarreness in your posts.

Yeah that's what bugged me is that you could see some hooking and obstruction by the Canucks that was ignored in the first half of the game while anything close was getting called on the Flames. Just seemed like things were tilted against one team.

Says the guy who wanted the Flames to move on from Backlund last season and was a Colborne apologist....

Hamilton was really bad last night. Gio was covering up for him all over the ice.

Yet they continue to hack him and heck even jump on his back and no call. In the same game where they are calling the plays that are supposed to let skill players like him function. Pretty weird but then that game was stranger than strange.

Rewatched the game - thought the refs were awful watching it live, watching it now, they were even worse.

The game was brutal to watch with all the calls, but the non calls brought back memories of the Wideman effect. Lurch Gudbranson should’ve been tossed for his cross check to Tkachuk’s face, one series had Hamonic get tripped (or hooked, take your pick), dislodges the Vancouver net, play goes on, no whistle, Canucks almost score and Calgary ends up with a penalty. Just incompetent all night.
