Ugly. Sam Bennett isn’t a center, Free Jankowski, and goodnight.

Still have no clue what "system" Gulutzan runs but that was a pretty lackluster effort after being called out after the LA game.

Can't do much aside from move on and try again tomorrow.

We can't expect Smith to be in god mode every game, need to tighten things up defensively. Staying out of the box would help too.

After 5 games some of my observations of our forward group (which haven't changed 1 bit since before the season)

-Ferland and Lazar (and Jagr for that matter) are not 1st liners
-Bennett would be better suited for the wing
-Janko could help this team and should have a prominent role here

All of these issues can be fixed with a few tweaks as follows:

-Move Tkachuk up to the 1st line with Johnny and Monny. He played RW with 2 very similar players in junior in Marner and Dvorak and if this works it would give the flames a lethal top line

-Move Bennett to the wing with Backlund and Frolik. I believe Bennett's offensive game could really take off on the wing and this line could be very similar to the 3M line currently

-Call up Janko and put him in as the 3rd line C. Janko with Jagr and either Versteeg or Ferland could be a very effective line that could create off the cycle game very well.

Lines would look like:

Gaudreau - Monahan - Tkachuk
Bennett - Backlund - Frolik
Versteeg/Ferland - Janko - Jagr
Versteeg/Ferland - Stajan - whoever

You're welcome Gulutzan.

Really? That's what you post after Bennett had a strong game outside of one penalty?

His position had very little to do with no one finishing on the passes he was making. He probably created more legitimate chances than anyone besides Gaudreau tonight.

yes please. long overdue. playing bartkowski is just asking for goals against and time chasing and somehow still not covering anyone. can't get the first ottawa goal out of my head. dominant period, and bartkowski spots them a wide open look in the last minute of the period through just being so, so bad. obviously a 6-0 loss on home ice to a karlsson-less sens team is a wider failure, but playing bart in the nhl line-up (not to mention keeping jankowski down still with no ahl games) is not setting yourself up for success.

at least the ducks lost

Cassie Campbell is terrible! She drags on her "analysis " and makes so many mistakes. She changes what she wants to say mid explaination and fumbles the rest of the way. We are so lucky to have Kelly and Rick, they are so good together.

Now the game. Stajan is brutal, he brings nothing to this team. Smith had a good game till that third one went in, then he mailed it in. Jagr looked much better in this game except for his hook. As soon as I saw that stick go parallel with the ice, I knew he was going to the box. The rest of the team was ok with some obvious blunders that resulted in the bad score, crap happens, just move on to van city.

Weird game.

Out played Ottawa in the first 2. Outchanced them 18-5 ES, but started taking penalties non stop.

Terrible 3rd though.

Anyone who says the flames played poorly didn't watch the first period and most of the second.

Gotta hand it to Ottawa - perfect road game.

Seems to be a lot of constant line shuffling. Certain players it gives a spark to, but others need consistent linemates in order to have success. By now we should have some idea of which players complement each other.

Good to get the stinkers out of the way early. Regroup its early in the season all teams go through their ups and downs

Smith wasn't very good tonight...certainly not all his fault but it wasn't a good outing

I expect him to bounce back
