That was the strangest end to a game. Seemed scripted...by writers that have no idea how hockey works.

US wins it in a shootout. What a fiasco, an absolute disaster of an ending.

Even the US players look like they're not that happy.

Finland won it, and IIHF can go #### itself.

Craziest part, nobody can even explain why the goal was disallowed.

Nice job by the Finnish fans who stuck around to salute their team.

Do people really think that should have been a goal? US goalie got mowed. Blatant goalie interference, even if that wasn't the reason it was disallowed.

The situation is specifically addressed in the rules:
IIHF rule 185:

Quote:
An attacking skater who makes incidental contact with a goaltender
out of his goal crease while both try to gain possession of the puck will
not be penalized. If a goal is scored at this time, the goal will count.

That’s an unfortunate way to lose, but you can’t count that goal.

Good for Finland, bright future ahead.

The contact was way out of the crease.

The crease doesn't stretch with the goalie.

Ya looks like a goal to me. Goalie dove for the puck, contact was made outside the crease.
