Hopefully those explosions don't happen as they're being used for the baseline VR experiences. I cringe just thinking about that possibility.

Windows 10 won't be. My computer won't be.

But MMF is right, it isn't that big of a deal.

As someone who stated Apple is done for because they removed the 3.5mm minijack, I would have thought you would have appreciated the hyperbole.

I'm curious how waterproof this new phone actually is? Apple's presentation labeled it water resistant, the media is calling it waterproof. There's a substantial difference between the two so I'm looking forward to the inevitable they didn't tell us we couldn't use it at 3 atms outcry.

I found it, it's only good to 1m, which means if it goes into a hot tub or pool it's potentially a goner.

I find computers pretty antiquated after 2 years or so; video cards especially. Though I'm definitely in the gaming rig segment of the population. Ironically, I've found Windows 10 to be a bit of a pain in the ass so far.

I walked into a dealership with a friend and they tried to get me to buy a new car on the same basis.

Over 5 years ago according to Bertuzzied Apple's demise was imminent and then a few years later they broke records for all time profits. Apple is going nowhere.

Oh, it was intended. It is also worth laughing at the absurd claim; indicative of him and his posts.

This will be my make or break day for Apple products. If they ditch the headphone jack, they ditch me as a customer. I've already junked a ton of peripherals from the iPhone 3-4 days because of the 16 pin to lighting jack upgrade, as most of them were wobbly or useless with an adaptor. I've already had to replace every cable and connector to lightning. Now I have to ditch my headphones for some crappy proprietary Apple connector? Ain't gonna happen.
The other stuff I could live with, but I have a few hundred dollars in headphones that aren't gonna go to the waste pile because they want to sell me more adaptors and connectors. And what if I wanna charge my phone while I'm listening to music? Oh, yeah, I'm sure you'll need another proprietary adaptor as well. And I will not use bluetooth headphones. I've yet to hear a pair loud ebnough, or with good enough quality to warrant the price.
It also makes me realize what an incredibly wasteful, environmentally harmful company Apple is. All of these cables, adaptors and peripherals customers have are likely sent to the waste bin every 3-4 years. I think it's finally time to look at other products should this headphone jack rumour be true. And to be honest, the rock solid Apple reliability is not there anymore. My current iPhone6 is on it's 3rd Applecare replacement, and my current Macbook Retina is a giant POS. I think the effect of Jobs OCD like quality control is really starting to become more and more apparant.

For the record I am no Apple fan boy and think pretty much everything they produce is overpriced. That said I do not get the outrage about the headphone jack. Apple said they are going to include the adapter so you can still use the same headphones you always used.
Is it true that its just another money grab to try to convince users to buy apple headphones? Most definitely. Does it also free up space for other things in the phone? Well that is their claim and makes a fair amount of sense. Changes can be scary but not sure why this is such deal breaker for so many?

But their products aren't "obsolete" they just work "less well", like all technology. My son still uses our Ipad2 for videos and children's games. It's sluggish but fine for that purpose. I bought it the day it came out which was over 5 years ago. Not bad.

The biggest thing for me is not being able to charge my phone while using headphones. There are countless times when I've needed to charge my phone while continuing to use headphones for music/netflix. It's silly and inconvenient I won't be able to do both at the same time without purchasing expensive wireless headphones. I assumed that this move would coincide with the addition of wireless charging, without that option this is a big miss imo.

Why? All the stuff in that article was possible with the 3.5mm jack still being part of the phone. In fact that's precisely what the author was doing, using the Lightning connector on an iPhone 6S to test a pair of headphones that were released nearly a year ago.
I'm also skeptical of the author's listening impressions, particularly when he compares the DACs. The signal out of the 3.5mm jack in iPhones is virtually transparent. More likely, the Lightning connector can produce louder audio with that particular $1000 headphone setup, which tends to trick people into thinking it sounds better. Non-blind audio comparisons are rife with bias and placebo effects.
