Erik Johnson is trash.

Terrible giveaway then lets Timo Meier walk down the middle and score.

Crazy to see all it really takes to counter the avs is to be aggressive in the neutral zone and stand up at your blue line.

How the flames didn't figure that out two games in is mind bottling.

I'm not sure...could the announcer tell me one more time if that went "bar down" or not?

Timo Meier is becoming a hell of a player. Good on the Sharks for letting him develop at the pace he needed.

Default WCSF: San Jose Sharks (P2) vs. Colorado Avalanche (WC2) — series tied 1-1

I’m convinced more than ever that the coaching staff had the worst game plan vs the Avs. They chased and allowed a fast team like the Avalanche to gain as much speed as they desired through the neutral zone and it resulted in 15-20 shots per period whereas the Sharks have limited the Avalanche to just 7.

The Sharks have managed to slow the game down to a crawl as well and are dictating the play at the Pepsi Center. You can’t try to outskate a faster team, you have to make them play in the muck instead. The Flames really should be playing the Sharks right now, not the Avs.

The more I watch the more and more I realize just how far off the Flames are. I knew it was bad, but this bad?

Agree. I've been noticing off ice qualities as well. Listening to post game interviews with guys like Faligno tonight and Pietrangelo last night. They are well spoken and confident. Gio is like that for us but our other supposed young leaders mumble, look at their feet and only talk in cliches.

Backlund and Tkachuk are excellent interviews. Knowledgeable, confident and humble.

I think you’re looking too hard.

The Flames are pretty close to the Sharks. They just had the wrong game plan against the Avs IMO. The Avalanche love to play a wide open skating game and that’s exactly what we allowed them to do. If we had just forced Colorado to play in the mud and shut down the neutral zone, then the flames would’ve been the ones moving on to the second round.

But, why? And why didn't the team adjust? Shutting down the middle of the ice is not exactly a genius move.

That and the Sharks just seem like the much more physical team. Colorado just pushed us around.

Yeah watching SJ own this game against a team that owned us is making me salty

Exactly. They probably tried, but just weren't good enough.

SJ is huge and strong. They win just about every board battle. And those long sticks hope with the forecheck. Our game plan may have been bad, but we simply don't have the bodies to play tough playoff hockey.

If Mac could crossover as good as the Next One we would have a debate on who the best player is.
What a shot.

I think most of the problem is Calgary plays small.

Why are some of you acting like the series is over and an easy win for the Sharks?

Seems pretty even to me
