Default What is Brodie’s worth?

I’d like to preface this with the fact that even if Brodie had a good post season I still would say this is his last time ever donning the Flaming C. He is on good value for his contract, he has been baby sat by Giordano to boost his stats and trade value to higher then it possibly should be. We also need to make room for our up and comers and as a team that believes in correlating d-men’s stickhand to their proper side he is an odd man out. With all of these factors, to me it makes it seem like he’s most likely to be moved.

So what do you guys feel he’s worth on the trade market?

Half a can of Copenhagen long cut and a bottle of whiskey.

A 1st round pick.

I wouldn’t mind packaging him with Jankowski and see what they could bring back. The Habs seem like a team that would love that package. Does it return Drouin+?

Kadri is another target.

More than a first.

He is a top pairing D man who plays the right side. A handful of untimely gaffes doesn’t tank a players trade value.

Find a comparable player that was traded for less than a first plus.

Move Hamonic instead if you actually care about making this team win more hockey games

That being said, neither of them are worth an incredible amount, mid/late 1st and a small +

I’d rather move Brodie tbh. If he’s not with Gio he’s an absolute liability. Also Hamonic rates much higher on the GAF meter. I’d imagine a lot of our noticing the lack of heart from him this season has to do with him literally getting his face punched in second game of the season. He was our fighting major leader for last season. Would much rather keep Hammer over Brodie.

Yup probably worth a 1st (mid late) and a decent prospect (similar to mangiapane before this year) would rather move him in hockey trade ala Hamilton / ferland.

Agreed. Hammers a warrior and his contract is robbery. Moving Brodie has the added benefit of clearing decent cap room

Exactly what I was thinking.

My whole idea was a deal constructing of Brodie + Jankowski for Kadri.

Flames obviously need more talent at C and Kadri would be a massive boost. Plus, when he's not getting suspended, he also produces very well in the Playoffs 5v5

In all honesty to Brodie on an expiring contract is worth maybe a 3rd. He defends at below average nhl level and is moderately above average offensively. Other gms see what we see and more and if we all know he sucks why would they think any differently?

Did you even count how many shots he blocked this series? I wouldn't move Hamonic. You also underestimate their values based on the contracts they are on.

2nd line forward would be best value for our needs and realistic.
Someone to replace and upgrade Frolik would be good.

Late 1st sounds right to me if going for picks

If brodie nets a 1st round pick, tre better get it done. Having multiple firsts will give us some nice flexibility if we want to acquire some top 6 talent or get rid of neal

A decent middle 6 rfa forward IMO. Say a Joel Eriksson Ek or something.

That's too high. Even if we are taking on the 1 million or so cap difference.

He definitely is not...unless he's paired with Giordano when he's playing at an elite level. If Brodie was a true top pairing guy, there's would be no reason to trade him away. The fact is, even though he had a big bounce back season, he's regressed quite a bit overall since Hartley left. And this is coming from a huge Brodie fan. His offence isn't enough to make up for his defensive issues at this point. Because of the nature of his position, his mistakes often lead to direct goals. It's a real shame because Hartley used to rave about him; how the sky was the limit and even Brodie himself had no idea how good he was. If there was one player I've been rooting for to get back to where he used to be, it's Brodie.

I want him traded for assets, not because he's a bad player, but because there are 4 other young <22 year old Dmen waiting to take his place and Brodie will have good trade value this summer. Still, I'd be sad to see him go. He's an example of the Flames doing something right when it comes to drafting and developing a player, and he's still only 28. Lots of good years left in him.
