That gives the Yotes some time to see if these young players can take the team to the next level, which might actually put some butts in seats, and it will give them some time to see who the key players are.

Just because he's restricted doesn't mean he has no leverage.
The organization obviously wants him. Every contract carries risk.
This is a market rate deal with a really weird structure.
