Ducks Anaheim (32-36-10-74) @ Calgary (47-23-7-101) 7:00pm (SNW)

The Calgary Flames look to avoid being swept on their current home stand tonight at the Scotiabank Saddledome against the Anaheim Ducks.

Projected starters, not confirmed at the time of posting https://leftwinglock.com/starting-goalies:
Calgary Flames - David Rittich
Anaheim Ducks – John Gibson

The Flames look to hold onto top spot in the West. With the San Jose Sharks sliding having lost 7 in a row, this is a chance to solidify the top spot in the Western Conference.

Meanwhile the Ducks are 6-3-1 in their last ten, and look to play the role of spoiler. The Flames play the Ducks once more this season.

Overall records:
Calgary Flames 47-23-7-101
Anaheim Ducks 32-36-10-74

The game will be broadcast on SportsNet West, so for those of us outside the Flames viewing area be sure to have your streams ready.

Go Flames Go

Remember that one huge 8-3 win over the Ducks during the Gulutzan years? Where it felt like salvation after a long stretch of nothing?

That would feel just as sweet right now, also knowing that the coach is better and the team is better. It'd be a signal of a return to form, not of a momentary achievement.

Would be surprised if Smith doesn't get the net tonight. Also wouldn't be surprised to see Bennett back in there. Let's get those banners!

Correct me if I am wrong but a win tonight could set up some interesting clinching scenarios tomorrow

Flames win tonight and the Sharks lose in regulation the Flames clinch the Pacific. If Winnipeg also loses to the Habs the Flames would clinch the West.

Also if the Oilers lose tomorrow and the Avs win they will be officially eliminated.

All this starts with a Flames win tonight

Ducks are my least favourite team, or should I say, most hated. I hope they are entering a decade of futility. Maybe I can start hating the Coyotes or something.

In a way it’s good that we aren’t waltzing through these games against lesser opponents thinking winning is easy, but obviously we want to enter the playoffs feeling confident.

I’ll say a hard fought 3-2 win would be good. Gaudreau PP, Hanafin, Neal.

I think I figured out what the problem was for the Flames. I have been listened to Navras every day since the Flames clinched, but then realized yesterday that I hadn’t listened since Saturday. Rest assured I have rectified the oversight and expect a positive result tonight.

I fully expect to see a lackluster effort, with Brodie executing multiple breakdowns and terrible passes. Monahan floating around and Johnny trying to do too much.

But, I will watch the game, cheer on this group of current underachievers and thank the hockey gods that both SJ and VGK are struggling even more so than our beloved Calgary Flames.

4-2 Ducks....Prove me wrong boys! I would be glad to eat crow.
