People have zero confidence in the players that got the team to where they are now. Kind of sad. I think Mony is going to score all the goals.

Yeah Monahan kinda lost some mojo recently and then missing some games really took its toll.

Having said that, no worries here at all, he's still this teams top centre and he'll be back to his normal self.

This line re-alignment makes a bunch a sense at this point. May as well see what you have in new combinations. Lindholm is clearly gassed - any winger playing with JG has to do a bunch of heavy lifting in the D and neutral zone. Why not put him with Frolik who is arguably our most responsible winger and Derek Ryan. Interesting fact, Ryan has not been on the ice for a 5-5 goal against since the All-Star break. Hopefully moving Monahan down the depth chart will give him more favorable match-ups (particularly for the next 2 home games) that will restore some confidence.

While I'm all for Peters changing things up... I'd like to see:

Gaudreau - Lindholm - Czarnik
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Mangiapane - Monahan - Neal/Bennett
Jankowski - Ryan - Hathaway

I think the Gaudreau line needs more firepower than Frolik on it, and Czarnik's proven he can pot a few - Johnny can feed him passes. I also like Ryan but don't think he's a first line minutes guy, and Lindholm's not going to let you down at either end of the ice as a 1C.

3M line speaks for itself.

Monahan and Neal or Bennett with a guy who's riding a high in Eatbread. Maybe it'll rub off?

Janko's been fine but not astounding for a while. Put him with a pair that's been a good duo for a while in Ryan and Hathaway and get him going too.

I think I would personally prefer:
Gaudreau-ryan-lindholm
Tkachuk-backlund-frolik
Mangiapane-monahan-bennett
Neal-Jankowski-Hathaway

I like giving gaudreau a shooting option, keeps 3m together, and I've always thought Monahan and Bennett play well together.

Two weeks to find confidence.

I'd suggest meditation. People are naturally confident, we just bog it down with our own thoughts.

Default March 26 Practice Notes. Bennett returns. New forward lines

I like the lines besides Frolik on the top line. I’d prefer Mangiapane there given that he has a better shot and chemistry with Ryan. Interested to see how they look

Splitting up Monahan from Gaudreau is a smart idea that has worked in the past. Forces Monahan to carry the puck/engage in battles more. When he was demoted a couple seasons ago (I think?) he played really well. Believe it was a game vs the Islanders

I actually love the look of that second line, that line may actually stick if they show some chemistry.

At the moment, lines 2 and 4 are really playing well so I wouldn't mess with them.

Therefore they should try different combos from the other 6/7 forwards.

Gaudreau - Lindholm - Neal
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Jankowski - Monahan - Bennett\Czarnik
Mangiapane - Ryan - Hathaway

This way , all lines have at least 1 defensively responsible guy and a shooter.

I would expect that all NHL teams use them.

Yup, might be time to dust off the old lobotomy procedure for Neal as well

The problem is I think the flames like having a shut down line with 3 guys who are above average defensively. I would like to see Gaudreau-Backlund-Lindholm tho

Neal-Monahan-Bennett? Are we sure this isn't supervillain Peters' plan to create a super massive black hole that will end the world as we know it?

I would also kind of like Lindholm moved over and maybe Bennett slotted with Gaudreau. Lindholm hasn't been great either, but I thought having him as like a secondary centreman was part of the idea.

Gaudreau - Lindholm - Bennett
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Mangiapane - Monahan - Jankowski/Czarnik
Hathaway - Ryan - Neal
