I don't get it. It takes a lot for me not to suspend my disbelief. I go into most shows/movies with the desire to just be entertained. I don't necessarily want to turn off my mind, but I also don't want to focus on minor inconsistencies in cannon or the timeline.
I'd add Star Wars to that list as well. SW fans are the absolute worst when it comes to that stuff.

Yes! Not sure how I forgot them. They’re some of the worst offenders.

There’s a level of unattainable perfection that nostalgia has placed on our favourite franchises.

At least 50% of Star Trek is not good. Most of Voyager. Half the movies. Too many episodes are below par sci-fi.

What they’ve been able to do that most franchises can’t, is create incredible characters that stand the test of time.

I’m working my way through the last bit of Voyager and man, what is with The Doctor and all the singing? They can’t go four episodes without him singing, it’s crazy.

Bob Picardo loves singing and he is an accomplished vocalist.

I've always been a fan of Star Wars ship designs, especially on the Imperial side so I love the return of the Imperial Star Destroyer.

A couple of things.

No sign of Dark Rey in the trailer.
No sign of Hux at all.
I still think that they selected Rey for the role partially because of her facial features.

Star Trek and Star Wars aren’t the same thing. Yeesh!

Noah Hawley (Fargo) now attaches to direct a fourth Kelvin-verse film starring Chris Pine, which is apparently finally moving forward. I’ve liked all the Kelvin movies to various degrees (even Into Darkness) so I’m happy to see the series continue.

Wow! I thought they weren’t going to do the fourth one and instead pass it off to Tarantino. Maybe I’m mixing up a few facts. I’ve tried mining the internet for updates on the Tarantino Trek film and haven’t had much luck. I’ve been luke warm on the new Trek movies so far.

I'm happy they're doing more as well. I've enjoyed all the Kelvin timeline movies.

They must be ditching the Chris Hemsworth/Kirk's Dad time travel stuff they had originally plan so they can afford the cast (Pine) again.

Not sure how I feel about Pegg not writing it though. He loves the characters and the universe. I really enjoyed Beyond.

I like the first one, the second one wasn't good and it was stupid to do a Kahn reboot. The third one was ok from a character and storyline perspective, but the villain didn't work for me, so it was a it was ok sentiment.

I liked the Star Trek 90210 casting, Quinto and Urban were brilliant selections. Pine was decent in the role of Kirk as well, but they ran into the situation where it was too many characters not enough time and we got very little development with Sulu, Checkov and Uhura.

I hope they don't recast a new Checkov.

fingers crossed that this will finally be the Kelvin movie in which the state of the art flagship Constitution class heavy cruiser Enterprise doesn't get torn to bits in the span of like 30 seconds.

This is a problem with almost every Star Trek movie really, the Enterprise sucks in some way.

TMP: Enterprise is great, no problems
WOK: Enterprise has rookie training crew, severely damaged in surprise attack
SFS: Enterprise stolen by Kirk, run by skeleton crew and not able to keep up with Klingon fighters, destroyed by Kirk
TVH: No Enterprise
TFF: Enterprise in the middle of a re-fit, sent on a vanity mission with many issues still present
TUC: Not bad here, but still almost gets wrecked by one Klingon ship
GEN: Destroyed by one Klingon ship
FC: Finally awesome in the first ten minutes, then commandeered by the Borg for the rest of the movie
INS: Doesn't do much, struggles against a couple weak fighters, lame joystick scene
NEM: Outmatched against the Scimitar, almost destroyed
09: Completely outmatched by Nero's mining ship
ID: Completely outmatched by the Vengeance
BEY: Destroyed by modified mining probes in first 15 mins

The Kelvin crew needs to watch out for the miners, apparently.

Its always the same thing in the next generation by the way. The ventral shields just plain suck, its like the top shields are tissue paper thin. Also the Transporters always seem to break. Its like the Transporters are made of vacuum tubes and held together with snot.

And don't forget in TFF not only were there problems but the doors and bulk heads were designed with short people in mind.

Well I am very happy about this. Even a bad Kirk, Spock and crew movie is something I will enjoy TBH.

Hey! Don't knock tubes and snot... they've been keeping my '63 Bassman alive since I've had it.
