too much? I'd take Quick in a heartbeat over Ritich/Smith

I think that is alot also, I think this would be more than fair:

2019 1st
Dube
Frolik
Smith

But at what cost? Ben Bishop was not coming to Calgary for free, and if my memory serves me correctly I do believe the pick that became Matthew Tkachuk was on the table in that deal.

I would not at all be interested in that tradeoff.
I'm talking about when he was a free agent in the summer of 2017.

If anything, we'd have more assets in the fold because Tre would have never traded for Mike Smith.

But I digress, it's a moot point. He wanted to sign in Dallas. It's just frustrating that the Flames are still dealing with this inconsistent starting goaltender crap. If we have another "Brian Elliot" type playoff meltdown I will lose my marbles.

I'd do that all day long. Kylington is going to be good and the 2020 first is likely to be a low one. I think though they'd want the 2019 first. Smith, Mangiapane and probably Gillies are pretty much add-ons. Frolik is a warm body for their rebuild.

To LA:
-Gilles/Parsons
-2019 1st
-2020 2nd
-Mangiapane

To CGY:
-Cal Peterson
-Tyler Toffoli
-2019 3rd

We grab a waiver eligible goalie who can stay in the AHL and avoid messing up the room chemistry, but jump up if required and develop with Rittich as a tandem the next few years. Also grab a scoring top six winger and a really low 3rd round pick.

We essentially give up one of our bubble goalie prospects and a high 2nd (which we would likely use to grab another bubble goalie prospect) for a quality tender. Mangiapane and 1st seems like a fair price for Toffoli. Maybe they can throw in a depth D as well.

Edmonton has to shed salary if they off Talbot so they can bring Sekara back up.

So that is going to hamper their ability to get any type of return for him.

Some were speculating that Philly might entertain a Talbot for Elliott deal since Elliott and Carter Hart have a off season relationship. But according to Oiler schill Dreger...last time he contacted Philly they really weren't that interested as they have lot's of bodies at the position as is and want to cut numbers.

If Oiler panderer Dreger says the market for Talbot is weak...it's weak.

I don't think Kylington should be traded. He's going to be very good.

And then we watch Quick degrade like Hiller, Elliott, Smith, now Rittich degraded under Sigalet's tenure while L.A. puts Kylington into every top situation beside Doughty and becomes a perennial All-Star.

It'd be the most Flames outcome.

Huge no to any trade involving a big piece going out for an over-30 goalie on my part.

I agree about Kylington. I really don't want the Flames to trade him because I think he still has a lot of upside. The tools are awesome.

I also want no part in trading Kylington. But I also have faith that this management has learned from the mistakes of the past.

Toffoli isn’t even that good. 27 points in 56 games for a top 6 guy isn’t very good, no matter where you’re playing. Combine that with a declining Quick who has lots of term remaining on his deal, and you’re overpaying. I don’t want to give 1sts, good prospects and decent roster players just to get these guys

I think more like
2019 1st
Jankowski
Dube

I further imagine any trade talks with the Flames, involving good players, starts with teams asking for one of Valimaki, Andersson or Kylington. And they probably start with Juuso and then say they would settle for Kylington.

2019 1st
Kylington
Dube

Do people do that? Because I bet that's closer to what it will take.

I was thinking this morning a 1st, Frolik and Kylington might get it done. Might have to throw in Dube or Mangiapane as well due to other teams outbidding. But yeah... I think BT would def have to include one of those three defencemen like you said. I'd be most alright with Kylington personally. Good news is Prout has looked decent. I would feel more comfortable though grabbing a veteran guy for depth in a separate move.

I'm not sure we can get a trade done with only players we think won't be very good in the future.

You need good players to step in when the cap crunch hits. Chicago needed guys like Saad, Leddy, Teravainen, Shaw in their second and third cups. The time to trade those guys was when they couldn't be afforded, not just before they bloomed.

I would rather trade Andersson than Kylington.
Rasmus doesn't look like he's ever going to have the mobility to be more than a 5-6 guy, whereas Kylington looks like he can skate with just about anyone in the league.
I know losing Andersson makes depth on the right side pretty weak, but Kylington looks too good to trade.

Definitely.

I think my thoughts on the trade deadline have changed. Initially, I heard it was going to be a buyer's market. However, that Brian Boyle trade has convinced me the prices are going to be just as high as usual. If this is the case, I'd rather see the Flames sit this one out unless they can get a good goalie with a reasonable contract for a reasonable price, ex: "Goalie Ben Bishop was traded to the Dallas Stars by the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday for a fourth-round pick in the 2017 NHL Draft."

Here is an ideal goalie fix imo.

To philly: Talbot, 5th
To Oilers: Elliott

Oilers get out of the cap problem so they can activate Sekera and get a goalie Hitch knows from his Blues days. Philly squeezes the extra pick because the Oilers are over a barrel

To CGY: Talbot
To Philly: Smith 3rd

Calgary shores up their goaltending and Philly turns Elliott into a 3rd and 5th

It's entirely possible. They took on Dave Bolland's contract from the Panthers along with prospect Lawson Crouse. It could happen again as they perpetually try to reach the cap floor while not paying any real dollars.
