The research team behind this came and presented at my elementary school class a year or two after the excavation when everything was being published. I was completely fascinated by the entire process and all the pictures. It was really a defining moment for me growing up and might have played some small role in my venturing into other scientific pursuits and ultimately getting my PhD.
I definitely need to see this show.

It seems a little too intelligent for a polar bear. Why would it dump the captain down the hole just like how the crew did it to the old man? As well it brought the daughter a fish.
Threads for shows based on other properties are always weird. I assume you don’t want book readers to answer this as it would be spoilers for the show?
What a thrill to see a favourite authors work come to life on TV.
Really enjoying it, decided to read the book again along with watching.
Now how do we get Hyperion on TV?
btw one of the first crew men to die and be buried on Beechy was John Torrington. They did the autopsy on him after being dead and buried for 150 years, and because he was frozen I guess, he looks pretty life like for a guy who died in the mid 1800's.
Google his name.
That is really cool.

Correct. I'm just discussing what we have seen on the show not the book and I assume that none of us would like any spoilers from those who have read the book already. I feel I'm somewhat close in my observation but I can wait until the coming episodes to find out.

We almost need two threads for this, similar to Walking Dead and Game of Thrones. But the book for this is no where near as popular so there would probably only be a few of us in the book thread. I'll probably wait until the series is over to post many thoughts.
I am enjoying it so far, and even the changes that have been made so far seem to have some decent reasons behind them, and I haven't hated any change yet.
Such a great 5 episodes, I was very hyped to see this because of the great documentary on this trip I saw some years back, and it has lived up to the hype.

I actually came to ask exactly this, are there any documentaries that people would recommend about this? Its really interesting.
Oh....and the show is cool too.

There's a number of them on YT, I've binged on a bunch over the last couple of weeks and they're all pretty great. The only thing is that all of them are a bit dated since they all seem to predate the discovery of the ships. The Terror being found well south of where it was originally believed to have been located has generated new theories about the expedition that obviously aren't being factored in.

You have to have a very specific Comcast cable package - which is only available in particular areas in the US - and then pay for AMC's proprietary streaming service on top of that. It's so stupid I wonder if AMC is intentionally sabotaging the digital release as some kind of tax writeoff or something. Episodes 4 and 5 accidentally got leaked though, so if you know your way around Kodi or torrents you can find them.

I've been watching some of the documentaries about Arctic exploration.
These people are nuts. No way in hell would you catch me doing any of this.
What gets me is the time. Damn, stuck in the ice again. I guess we'll just stick it out for another 10 months and try again next season. What a bother. And the discipline. Pretty incredible for a bunch of men jammed together in close quarters to maintain discipline and morale for years on end.
