Anything by Marie Sharp is good, in my opinion.

I also like this for a change of pace:

Does anyone know of a good place in Calgary with a wide selection of hot sauces?

Barbeques Galore has a pretty decent selection of hot sauce. Other things like habenero chili powder too.

It's not that hot, but I love the green Tabasco. I go through a ridiculous amount of that stuff.

On a semi-related note, can anybody tell me Where to find the hot spicy oil that they serve with pork dumplings at some Asian places?

Just discovered this in the fall. Pretty tame as far as hot sauces go, but I love the flavour. I put that shyte on everything lately. That and I just like saying "Cholula". Just feels right.

I like pretty much like any hot sauce.

This one is quite tasty. Unusual ingredient.

Depends on what it's being used for. For chicken you can't beat 1 part Frank's Red Hot/1 part butter (i.e. buffalo sauce). Tabasco as a general all purpose flavour-adder but it's not really saucy. For that you'd be looking at various Thai or Vietnamese or Szechuan sauces... there's lots around so I like to experiment with something new each time I run out.

Many restaurants make it themselves by frying chilli peppers in hot oil.

If you want to buy it in jar form, this is the best one out there:

Lee Kum Kee brand Chiu Chow Chilli Oil

Try it in non-asian foods like Chillis and it's freaking amazing. Best hot sauce ever.

Crossroads market on Blackfoot, a guy there has a ton of great hot sauces (many of them locally made too!). West Indian is one of my favourites. Moderate for heat at most (for the very high tolerance people...this stuff is still hundreds of times hotter than Frank's). It's VERY good on just plain white rice, any sort of chicken, and in soups/chilis. Jim Beam hot sauce is much milder, but great for any BBQish stuff you're doing.
I've boughten many bottles of Dave's for the last 5 years or so. Dave's Insanity Sauce, you are right was just straight hot and no flavor. I honestly wasnt' a fan of it (except when watching my friends try it out). But the ghost chilli one has a delicious flavor to it, same with the Dave's Garlic flavor. I would say that the ghost chilli one is the best since it's got a good flavor and the hotness really creeps up on you. The Insanity bottle was just pure evil.

Found these beauties when I was in St. Maarten about 5 years ago. They're so good I now import them into Calgary. The Jerk + Blackening are the best I've ever had.

This is a great Mango Chipotle as well. Found it in the Eau Claire mall hot sauce vendor. I've brought this one in a few times as well.
