Flames as a team are too stubborn to change the way they play. If teams are going to clog the neutral zone then dump some pucks in to confuse the opposition. Mix it up a bit.

I don't think flames have been figured out. I think teams are in playoff mode of tighter defensive postures. The flames find themselves more tightly checked - more cross checks; more leaning; more getting in the lanes. In response the flames have retreated to the perimeter.

Can Monahan elevate his game to center like Crosby or toews or bergeron that's willing to get his hands dirty and grind it out and fight for space? Is lindholm? Is backlund? Is Johnny? If not, the playoffs will be short.

Meh.
Flames have no urgency because there honestly isn't any.
No need to show our hand now in these meaningless games.

I can tell you what is on the table, a meeting with Las Vegas or Colorado.

This team has a history of not doing themselves favors this time of year. They should probably look to change that mentality.

Sure, but the situation was not exactly urgent heading into yesterday’s game. That has probably changed a little, and could continue to become a matter of elevated concern by Sunday depending on the outcome of the next few days. But if they are all playing a little flat—even subconsciously—because of the bulge they presently have atop the Division that is unsurprising. Human nature is like that, and it can be difficult to overcome. With a group as young and inexperienced as this one is, it could be part of a learning process.

I believe that it's quite common for teams who are at or near the top of the Conference by the start of March to be pretty flat in the month of March. Teams don't have the urgency to win that some of the teams fighting for their season do. But these teams have tended to get things on track again in April. This is where Tampa is more of an exception than the norm.

I'm pretty annoyed with the Flames of late like many. But thus far it's not like they've lost ground on other teams around them. If they continue to suck into April, than I'll be concerned. The 16-17 team was lights out in March...than got their ass kicked by Anaheim.
