Flames Another Flames/Leafs game. 5:00, nationally on Sportsnet.

Spoiler!

I imagine Rittich and Campbell go today.

Rittich is 3-1-1 in his career against Toronto with a .937 save percentage.

Flames will have to be much better to win this game as Campbell is a lot better than Anderson and won't be giving up freebees. I assume Rittich will get the start so hopefully he can pick up where he left off the last time these teams played.

For some reason I went over to HF to read the Leafs board, specifically the PGT of last night's game.I drank half my girlfriend's gin and tonic last night so I am probably still drunk.

Whatever the reason it is a dark place. Andersen and Dubas getting lots of virulent hate but also Tavares, Keefe and Reilly. A surprising amount of criticism for Marner and Matthews too.

I was not expecting all the outrage at Reilly. While flawed he seems a decent #1D. Plus so many posts critical of who and when Marner passes to or doesn't.

And many defintely think Campbell might be the Second Coming, starting tonight.

Interesting to read when you don't have much emotional attachment to the team

Hoping for another win. It would be a nice change if other teams start viewing the Monahan line as a threat instead of wanting to put out their top line against them for some easy offensive zone pressure.

I'm bracing myself for the hot takes from HNIC tonight.

"If the Leafs were playing the other Alberta team tonight, we would get to see Canadas favorite team play the great McAvi."

"After 2 periods It's unfortunate we don't have any highlights for out Alberta viewers yet, because McAvis plays Winnipeg at 10:00, here's a neat little doodle my daughter made of McAvi's."

"I'm excited for next week, when we get to see the heavyweight, Toronto and McAvi go heads to head on HNIC"

You know the Leafs were frustrated with last nights game, and will be coming out with a vengeance. If the Flames play the same way I dont see how it results in a win. Really need to buckle down and limit the damn turnovers in our own end.

Thats been the biggest problem these last couple games, horrible giveaways that result in goals against and kill whatever momentum the team had going. That also seems like something that is easily fixed.

Having said that, 5-2 Flames.

Monahan x2, Tkachuk, Dube, Gio.

For all the belly aching in the GT/PGT last night I was impressed to see the Flames hold onto a one goal lead against the Leafs for the entire 3rd period. Under Ward there’s no way that would have happened, so in Darryl I trust and anticipate seeing more winning with that ‘bend not break’ style. Ideally I’d like to see a dominant ass kicking start to finish though with a great performance from Rittich. Go Flames!

The ever changing villian for the day in Toronto is the goalie who got scored on two deflections, a screened snipe, and an outrageous giveaway. But a goalie who hasn't played in a few weeks is the Messiah.

I am sure Leaf players are used to that completely media driven blind range and blind fingerpointing to create drama and intrigue and something for fans get their chunk of flesh from someone from a loss, but hopefully the players have some sense that a new goalie will solve their offense problems.

Flames forwards will play better, defenseman will play the same solid game, and both will continue to block shots. Rittich will have to be solid though like Markstrom.

If the Flames find a way to win the game today, they will only be five points behind the Leafs. This two game stretch basically serves as a potential 8 point swing.

I would really like to see a Darryl Sutter special tonight:

- limiting the opposition to 15 shots or less;
- 30 shots on net for the good guys;
- 2-1 win.
- national outcry over Sutter ruining hockey.

To be fair to Ward, the Flames are 13-0-0 when entering 3rd periods with the lead and most of that was under his coaching.

Last night's win was less impressive than the wins over Montreal but the Flames were competing and blocking shots like crazy. Hopefully they are able to generate more tonight and control more of the game.

Think the Leafs will be out to win and come in waves....
If silly mistakes and deflections continue...

Looking for a 5-4 or 6-5 win for Flames. The TO back-up GAA going to come back to reality.
